Explains the basics.

In this screenshot, I have the amount of ground cover set to “none”.  It’s a personal preference but I prefer less “stuff” on the map. Others have argued it makes the game less pretty.

So Frogboy, what exactly are your specs again? Or could you recommend the ideal machine for around 5 grand to maximize FE performance?

I really don't think you'd need more than 2 grand for a rigged out machine ... unless you don't find any deals/ get unlucky.

That being said, I don't know a lot about building custom machines ... but 5 k sounds a bit ... high?

5k is very excessive. In fact I built my machine for around 2k and it was very near top of the line when I built it. I could have probably blown another 1k on it but wouldn't have really gotten much more out of it overall.

Yep, for a state of the art machine 2k is plenty if you build it yourself. 5k is starting to get into that crazy rendering workstation area. Save the 3 grand and buy yourself a trip to Tahiti or something.

I don't think I can take my PC on a plane. Better to stay home.

My monster machines are less than $2K.

Really, the big thing is 64-bit Windows 7.

Still using ibuypower Frogboy? After you touted them a couple years back, I gave them a try with pretty good results. Have one that keeps having a fan go bad, but that is completely Thermaltake's fault, and ibuypower replaced it twice for free. Just a poor bearing design on that fan, and no one else seems to make a 230mm fan. :(

iBuypower FTW. I think I may have gotten mine after seeing it suggested here, I don't remember.

Anyways, cool screenshot.

Mines from Cyberpower and its a beast. Though I ordered it pretty bare bones and finished the rest of it myself. (cause handling processors makes me nervous...) So I ordered mine with no os, no video card (I had one to put in it and have upgraded since then as well) no keyboard and no mouse. So all together I spent 600 and got a I7-920, 6 gigs of ram (ive gone up to 9 since then) a 500g hd, a 64g ssd, liquid cooling, and a pretty sweet case. Now my machine is 2 years old now though. But still that should give you a reference sean3.

tldr cyberpower or ibuypower will hook you up with a monster for 2g or less easy.

I made a pretty desirable one at ibuypower for 5K. If I use my current video card, hard drives, and monitor, I can get it down to about 2K. The thing is I want at least 460GB of SSD and all the little bells and whistles. Their 2K machines look pretty weak TBH.

Thanks for updating this post to include the date. Looking forward to more daily shots (from the screen, that is).
