With Rebellion, would you change your faction?

I mean with lot of new cool stuff, subfactions and their new characteristics, is there something within Rebellion, like for example Dual Starbase Awesomeness, Phase-enabled Orkulus, Vasari Planet-devouring Titan or simple thing like cool looks of Ragnarov, what would you sway to ditch your fav faction from Diplomacy and before for a new one?

Yes, I feel the TEC are a lot more fun to play now.  I can see myself even playing the vasari, yet Advent will be my main race as it is already too hard coded in my neural pathways.

The Vasari! I was a TEC whore before, but with the changes they want to do with the Vasari... Let's just say I'm happy I pre-ordered!

Ima really scared about even more people hopping onto the vasari bandwagon.

How nice it was when I was one of the few!

Always have favoured Vasari, and can't wait for their world eating Titan. I've played a little of everything though.

Then we are on the same boat. I cant wait for it too

For the love of god, give as at least some sneak-peek of these upcoming things, at the moment i would rather repeatedly watch video of Vorastra titan in action than playing another game as TEC! :D

TEC > All

Why? Because we have hoshis. :P

I do really like the TEC Rebels, so I'll probably add them into my routine more often. But Advent are still my favorite over all, so I'll probably master one of their factions.

I'm always a random player.......so no I won't jump factions, but I hate the feel of the TEC rebels so I will end up using dice to choose my faction for the game
Reply #9 Top

if the don't fix the AI spamming novaliths i will be switching to TEC for the planetary shields.

Between Novaliths, twin starbases for Loyalists, and that meat grinder of a titan the rebels have, I'm really curious how the non-TEC factions will play. TECs almost seem overpowering compared to how I envision the rest playing. Maybe there will be something with the advent that finally redeems them for me.

I can't say for certain until I play the other two, but in the past I've favoured the Advent a little over TEC and never really played the Vasari.  I can't see that changing over much, but will have to see how things shake out.

I've been 50/50 on TEC and Advent in the past. I'm loving TEC in the beta now, and I must admit the Advent changes don't excite me too much, so probably gonna go more TEC heavy.

I'll probably branch into TEC Rebels. Their play style fits me like a pair of comfortable gloves.

Advent is getting insane buffs and unfortunately i'd have to agree with Sareth-the unitys is really out for vengeance this time round.  I'm still deciding on how effective the rebel advent titan is at repairing its-self by consuming friendly ships , there research tree and its other abilities. I want to make a configuration that can assault tec Ankylon Titan with ease otherwise i'll result to the royalists Coronata Titan seen in the trailer for mind control and assimilation.

Advent Loyalist Titan is Coronata

hmm to me it will always be known as the vagina of death.  One could think of it another way as a cylon centurion that had its legs and arms shot off by some human rebels.  It gained the halo after it ascended to cylon heaven after it bled out all its power.

lol @ unfortunately...anyways...Fleet starving the advent fleet has been standard procedure for a while in multiplayer.  It would be nice to have something advent with lots of hull points that could actually tank for a reasonable amount of time.

I knew you would like that. :digichet:

I'll probably master one faction of each race. Though I'll play all factions vs the AI.

Having spent the afternoon digging through the other two, yes they both have some massivlly good abilites. If anything Tec with their twin fortresses, militia upgrades, and pirate stuff are looking the weakest of the lot.

Without going into specifics too much (the devs seem to be fine with discushuion so long as we don't over spoil). The Advent Rebels are just going to be hellish to fihht period, even without their titan they're going to be a major pain in the rear to make go away,  they just won't stay dead. The loyalists are nasty too. Probably only the Vassari Rebels could hope to attack them in their own culture and win, they got a MAJOR buff there, and if you lose a batle against them and have to flee, well just ouch. The Vassari rebels are now the pre-emminent military powerhouse. Advent in their own cultrue might be able to kick them back, but outside culture the Vassari rebels are going to dominate. The Loyalists are pretty nasty too, though not as strong to my idle glance. They'll have the strongest heavy cruisers in the game, but they're mobile capital and ability to pack up and devour aren't as useful as you'd think. Also expect the new vassari cap ship to be spammed to high heaven. And if anyone gets one to T6 whilst having others on hand, run.

I think i'll leave it there before my tounge rns away with me :).

So this stuff is already coded in current version of game? I mean, can you make the Vorastra to become mobile capital and can it devour planet already in this unfinished state? And the fleet beacon and ship summoning, does that work too?

If yes, why do you think its not that useful, especially the devouring? Or were you talking about ship devouring? Cause i can assume this is not going to be that game-changing ability...

I haven't actually played with the new factions as such, i've spawned in the new capitals as tech to see what they can do, same with titans, i also got the other races in game and used that to glance over their tech trees at the new stuff. but i've not played games as them. So i haven't actually tried the new stuff, such as the mobile capital.

I don't want to go into too many detals, but in short you need a enough labs to actually research a tech to get the benfits of it once researched in most cases, (not all do though). Your fleet cannot provide the full 8 of each. Likewise your income and ship replacent capability are simply not workable long term. If you can't kill your enemies rapidly, tottally ripping up your roots is not workable. Likewise there's a catch to devouring planets that hasn't been mentioned, (at least according to the research description), so it's not as simple as you'd think. Bassiclly your still going to have to defend a couple of worlds to make loyalists work. All the research lets you do is cut that number drasticlly.

Thank you for answer.

Are you talking here about the ability to devour only your own planets, not the enemy ones?  Because that is known already, thanks to Yottsu. Or is there something else?

Anyway, i am not expecting it to be easy pie, playing the game completely planet-less. Actually i hope you would be able to have planets and at the same time the ability to use your titan as your capital, fleet beacon for ship construction and planet-devourer. Same thing with Capships working as labs/trade-ports, i hope this abilities are not exclusive only to situation, when you have no planets at all. The only advantage of going completely planetless would be that it will make you difficult to finish off, but otherwise i think this would be only last resort thing, not modus operandi for loyalists.

Impossible to say without seeing the other races.  I didn't play Advent much before, so I'm really interested to see what new options they get.
