When is the new stardock download system coming back? yes impulse has been sold to gamestop but why sell out to steam! When i'm playing a steam game i feel like i'm being forceably raped because i can't sign offline to play somthing i paid for.

The Stardock Central beta is here, but not all games are supported yet and Rebellion will still need Steam.

Horrid analagy, and Steam offline mode exists, just save your login details.

Anycase, Steamworks it is, I wil have to live with it, even if downloading 500Mb takes a whole week. But does this mean "traditional LAN" functionality is gone? Where we play the game (my house) the physical broadband lines were stolen (South Africa rules ), so connecting to Steam to play a LAN game is not an option.

You can still play via LAN, though it will need to be from a machine which has at least been able to get online once to log into Steam and activate offline mode.

Thanks again kryo.

I am just used to games moving to Steam dropping that part and forcing me to use the Steam way of making multiplayer games. But what you stated should work then for me. Still not pumped about Steam, but if offline will work for my LAN games I will make a plan to get it set up with my friends as well. Will make a plan to get the Beta downloaded soon and give it a whirl.

Also what's up with using steam rather than Impulse?

Rebellion is using Steamworks.

Thanks for telling us now. I want a refund because i do not use steam.

Is it just going to switch over the the full version on release? Or will we be getting another email?

I also dislike Steam, but I have confirmed with the Beta that once you have activated the game and set Steam to off-line, you can still LAN it. Now to give some Beta feedback...

It looks like Rebellion has been taken off Steam.  Is there any other way to access the beta?

Well, i still feel betrayed and cheated. Not going to buy anything from Stardock anymore. Too bad.

Just a quick question reguarding the new purchace on steam, i've brought Rebellion on the site to get access to the beta through steam. but thismorning i saw the release of Rebellion on Steam which is a good thing but i'd like to know if the copy i've brought on the site will give me a key to activate through steam for the full copy or will i have to buy the game again if i wanted it on steam?

I have a question regarding preordering Rebellion from Steam.

In my region (eastern Europe) preorder costs 19.99$  on steam. If I preorder there at that price will I be impaired in any way regarding available language options, updates or ability to participate in multi-player?

Will English language be available to me? Will the version of the game differ depending on region?

You get a key to activate on Steam.

We have no plans for any localizations at this time. It's the same English version everywhere.

I love steam.

Bought Sin on impulse.

Bought Sin again when it came out on Steam to promote steam.

I only buy games on steam nowadays since I find it so easy and efficient.

It's good that stardock is selling Rebellion on Steam. The more people playing the more the fun.

Yes steam is not perfect; but it's by far the best option to buy and play games theses days and I for one am happy to use it.

Had little to no issue with it.

Got my cash back when there was a problem without begging.

And I love the way I can interact with my friends and play games on steam.

Oh and I got many of my friends to pre-purchase the new Sins on steam so you unhappy fellows don't have to worry; the game will sell without you ^_^

Steam is not used for DRMs but to deploy and give community features to people.

Don't confuse what steam does.

i'm really disappointed that it looks like i have to use steam to play rebellion now. every time i try to play offline with steam it says it needs to connect to the servers to get into offline mode, which last i checked, you can't do when you don't have the internet. I don't mind steam when i buy something through steam because i know what i'm getting into, what pisses me off is when i buy a game either in store or in this case, on another service because i like the service, and i get thrown into steam because i bought it through the other service for a reason.

my real question is; are we going to be able to run SOASE:rebellion through impulse (now gamestop) alone once it's released, or am i stuck with another game that i get to play on the whim of steam?

I have the previous sins games on impulse, and the Rebellion beta on Steam. I forggot because it was a long time ago. Were the pre orders for the Rebellion the steam edition? And if so can it access the impulse versions.

Just curious about an issue that I know a few other people have had. So I pre-ordered rebellion, downloaded it on steam, registered the serial key. Clicked play, it said the game was unavailable. So I checked the local game files, and it said that two files failed to check out and would be reacquired. Great. Something downloaded, and I clicked play again. Still the game was unavailable. So I got my infinitely more tech savvy brother to look around. He deleted the local files and reinstalled them. No dice. He started poking around in the specific directories and found that the EXE file was missing. One would think that that file had something to do with the two files that got re-acquired, no? So, to sum up.

1) Does anyone else know a solution for this?

2) And what exactly would this solution be?

I know that for bugs you're supposed to create a whole new post, but so far I have had one person reply to that post saying he had the same problem, and another non stardock person reply with one solution that I tried to no avail, and another solution that requires the use of the EXE file that I lack.

still trying everything for steam to let me in. i am a former steam user. i have no idea of password and such. new system and yet steam doesn't care. their customer service sucks like crap. why not give me a temporary username and password and then let me change it or such so i may enjoy rebellion? nope they delve in the past and won't move forward.  rather have betas thru impulse. they were much easier to work with when i switched computers.
