Barnsley's assistant manager Noel Blake, has announced that the club are trying to re-unite Stoke striker Chris Iwelumo with his former boss Gudjon Thordarson, by purchasing Iwelumo from The Potters.
Iwelumo was brought to Stoke in 1999 by Gudjon Thordarson, after several attempts to lure the player to the club had initially been unsuccessful. However, Director of Football John Rudge, along with Thordarson, finally managed to persuade the 6 foot tall striker to sign, and he often played an important role as a "super-sub" coming on close to the end of matches.
Under the reign of Tony Pulis however, Iwelumo has been anything but a regular in the team, often not even making the substitutes, which is a disappointment for the tall and powerful striker. If the player does leave the club, Pulis still has players available to him, should the need arise where the use of reserves are required due to injury or suspension to the Stoke attack force.
Iwelumo scored one of the three goals against Manchester United, in the recent Friendly fixture, which The Potters won 3-1.
