Is the ironclad team big enough to work on thier new fantasy title, sins2 and this expansion?

Just wondering whether sins2 may have been canned in favour of heroes beating up thousands of drones?

Like the title says. Ironclads new game has been announced and seems to be in an entirely different genre to SOSE.

What is the likelihood they can  work on sins2, Rebellion and this new OP heroe beats the average joes game?

Rebellion is basically Sins-2, IMHO.

I thought it was understood (or rumoured) that sins2 would take advantage of all cores and be a new engine...?

Really ?

I don`t think so. It will be a big step forward with a lot of new  content, but the engine will stay the same with some minor improvements.

I would expect much more from Sins 2

My point is that sins2 is not rebellion imho.

I would hate to think this is the end of the line for the SOSE game franchise.

I did read in the interview regarding rebellion and they did touch on the prospect of the developing Sins 2.  While the guy who was being interviewed didn't openly admit that Sins 2 was in development or not.  There was a response that hinted to a Sins 2, but not actually admitted to, when questioned about the feared 4th race that has the Vasari on the run.  Actually wait one minute... It will be easier to quote it.

"GameSpy: Why did you decide to split the factions into two pieces each instead of just creating a fourth race?"

"Brian Clair: That's a good question. For a fourth race, we didn't really want to go there until we get around to a Sins 2, whenever that is. There are certain things, storyline elements, that we want to introduce in a full-blown sequel, instead of something like Rebellion, which is kind of an in-between point. [Note: Stardock stresses that this does not amount to an announcement of Sins of a Solar Empire 2. Sure sounds like they're thinking about one, though!] For this title, we want to continue along the established lore timeline."

As you can see.  Rebellion is not Sins 2.  But there is a possibility that at some point there may just be.  Stardock, speaking at least for myself.  I really hope there will be a Sins of a Solar Empire 2.  And I would love to meet this feared 4th race that has the Vasari on the run on the battlefield.  In other words, if you "were" to make a Sins 2, you can count on my custom and I'm sure there are others here that feel same as I do.

Why make a new strategy game and not Sins of a Solar Empire 2?

Our original plan was to create one more major expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire which is called Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This is currently in production and will be in beta shortly. After working on science fiction for a very long time we wanted to give fantasy a try and Sins of a Dark Age is the result. We have plans for the Sins of a Solar Empire series and will return to it in the future.

...

What engine does Sins of a Dark Age use?

Sins of a Dark Age is powered by the Iron Engine 2 which is a next generation engine based on the stable and proven Iron Engine used in Sins of a Solar Empire. They are not the same engine as each was specifically designed for the specific demands of their unique gameplay requirements and for the current state of hardware.
