DesktopX is driving me crazy

I'm playing with someone else's script to see how it works and having quite a bit of fun and stumbled across a command to export as widget or gadget. I couldn't use the option gadget because it said I don't have "pro" version.  Here is the confusion, I thought that the version that comes as a part of Object Desktop package was the pro one, and if not, where is it listed on the web store?

Where do I enter my serial number for this software? I'm used to the screen popping up and asking. I have the package serial number that works for the whole lot but I can't see where to put it on this one.

Where also is that command I found to export (or was it save?) to a widget or gadget? It said I can't do gadget, but even widget would be nice to have a copy of these downloads that will run on their own. I haven't yet figured out a way to run the uncompiled ones without having it ask about saving the desktop, etc.

For some people a software can be neither intuitive nor well documented. It doesn't happen often for me, but I am tired of being frustrated.

May I make a suggestion LizMarr, send an email or PM to RedneckDude.  He has been working with DesktopX for awhile and is the type of person that is willing to assist others skinners, especially when it comes to working with DesktopX.  :sun:

Widgets require DesktopX to be installed in order to work. Widgets will run when no DesktopX theme is being used.

Gadgets will run without any other software needed.

Pro is a seperate purchase. Pro is required to export as gadget.

No, it is the Standard version. See here for the three different versions: https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/purchase.asp

Right-click on the object you've created.  Pop up menu should include "export".  It should then ask if you want to export all related objects, you probably do.

Don't know about that one.

Only as a widget or object, if non Pro.

The serial would be put in when you installed it. I know of no other way. If it didn't auto activate, it would ask you for your serial.

I wish the file listing for the suite says "DesktopX Standard"' I finally found Pro, it is not cheap.  I guess I'll happily widget away for now. Perhaps I can find someone who would save some of my projects as gadget once I have made any that I'm proud of and want to share. That is if it is considered proper to do.  If I am starting with someone else's code and adapting it to my own graphics and such, is that allowed? I see a whole mess of things come with the install. The one I'm working with is from the gallery. It would take me a bit to make suitable graphics that show a series of movements, and I have only just begun to understand the code for the one I have. I think though I might be able to add some variables to really make it do interesting things. Back and forth across the screen gets a bit old after a while. It is the beauty of the things that make them special.

PS. and the first official thing I make will NOT be a weather widget. Maybe a clock, but not a weather widget. ;)
