A "pro-tip" for us quest makers. If you want to make a quest with multiple endings, don't make an objective for each ending (unless you need it). Just fail the quest from inside the choicedef and put the rewards in that choicedef. That way, you don't have to continue the quest to another objective just to end it there instead. If you have 5-10 different endings in a quest, it becomes confusing to keep track of so many objectives. Failing the quest like this also prevents the <SuccessText> from playing out for the player. It doesn't really matter for the player if the quest counts as complete or failed.

Yes, very good advice.  It makes the quest making much easier if you do things this way.

I am going to be without internet the next couple of days.   So don't think I've abandoned the quest wizard, just going to be out of touch for a bit.

Probably gonna take this for a spin one of these days, I am terrible at creating creative quests though, but it have looked really good so far Murteas... Why aren't you on the paycheck? ^_^

For some reason when ever I launch the Quest Wizard it crashes

Any ideas why it does that?

Have you run it as an administrator, if yes then I think Murteas is very interested in the issue, and you might want to provide him with the knowledge of your operating system ;)

Version 0.51 is released.   Has some fixes to the editing of quests and fixes some crash issues.   Allows editing of the Objective ID.

I'll still be without internet the rest of the night, just had a few minutes to submit a new build.  :)   Enjoy

Do you have .net 4.0 installed?  It should prompt you to install it if you don't already have it.    Otherwise, please post your Specs (OS, Ram in particular).

A couple of other things to check is do you have Fallen Enchantress installed on the computer you are trying to run the wizard on?   If not it could cause the crash, as it uses files from the install in the wizard.  If I think of something else, I'll post it.

Thanks for the encouragement.   Quests don't have to be too creative, it just helps to have lots of them.   Post a quest and hopefully you'll get feedback.  (I have more downloads by 3x on my quest than my quest wizard).

Cant get the newest download of the setup to work. When I run either of the setup or exe files it says "Cannot Star Application: You cannot start application Fallen Enchantress Quest Wizard from this location because it is already installed from a different location". And I cannot find a uninstaller

Edit: Also I had a show details button, creating this notepad file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f4kdplwy2b6xzo/CAFAZGGD.log

Came to think of, can this thing create random events?

The bat hacked Kongdej's account! Will this be the end of our darkly animated hero? Find out next week: same Kong time, same Kong channel!

I don't think it is set up with the population or turn triggers. I am sure it will be at some point. If you feel the need, just make a normal quest and then add in the event tags in the xml.

Actually, yes it has both population and turn triggers, so you can do random events.

Hmm....about the installation issue.  I've had that weirdness too when I changed the directory that I installed from.   You should have a Fallen Enchantress Quest Wizard entry in your uninstall programs it is listed under 'F' for Fallen Enchantress Quest Wizard and the publisher is Murteas.   If you uninstall and re-install it should work.

Duh... No its listed under Q!!! for QUEST!!! >_<.... (Obviously you are right, and I was slightly silly when looking last time for the uninstaller :))

But thanks, also wanted you to know there was an issue

Finally, I am back to the modern world.   Yeah, the whole you can't install from this location was because I changed the directory structure of my app at some point so you have to uninstall and then reinstall if you are updating from that version.   Shouldn't be a problem in the future.

PM'ed you some new buttons; hit me back when you finalize the dimensions for the inside windows and I'll tailor up some backgrounds specific to each page.

The problem is the inside windows can grow.  I need to just set a max size on them and have them start at that size so they don't get bigger.    Things like the Objectives page can start out virtually empty and then grow quite a bit as you add objectives.

Tried to go from .4 to .51, but I got an error. It claims .4 is already installed, but I have deleted that using iobit uninstaller. I can't get the setup to start now.

Tried to install on another computer, but it doesn't work. On starting it freezes and then crashes. Not sure why.

V.51 working fine over here on this machine - good ol' 32-bit XP.

Had no problems upgrading, windows 7 64-bit

Clicking the "Done" button to remove a window is not very intuitive, I would love if the "Basics" window would close again if I clicked the "Basics" button again, and the same with all the other windows.

The interface looks really good though, I can't put myself together to create quests at this time. (Will be much better when I can design my own tiles, since I am starting to get ideas for quests, but they are rather tile specific.

Is that the fallen angel of hail storms?

In all seriousness, a devil's deal makes for a great quest idea.

Sean, my guess is the .Net 4.0 installation is causing the problem.  Really you shouldn't run into any problems other than that, it is a pretty generic .Net app otherwise (although if you install it when the game isn't install I can see you crashing as it looks for the game files).   I'll see if I can think of anything else to suggest for the install problems.  Right now I would uninstall from the program uninstall menu (under F for Fallen Enchantress Quest Wizard :)  ), then install .Net 4.0 or repair your installation, then install the Wizard again.

Yeah, I am fighting with this as well. Previously you could just open/shut the window by clicking these icons.  However, alot of processing is done on some windows when you click the done button, because I know you are ready for that part of the quest to be processed.   Should I assume that if you close the window you are done with that part of the quest?   That seems too big of an assumption.  However if you click done, then I know you are done.

Basically what some were having trouble with is that they were shutting the window and never clicking done and then when they went to save the quest some things were missing because they never finished one of the screens and pushed done.    I am open for suggestions on this.

I am in the middle of a crunch time at work so I haven't had much time lately to work on the Quest Wizard, but I plan to get back to it in the near future, so if you have other suggestions, put them here and I'll get to them.

I understand how that could be a problem ^^

You could make so the processing is done when you save the quest?

Sounds like you need to throw up a pop-up window of asking to save changes. Not the most elegant solution, but a typical solution to this problem. I should use the program more before I give a bigger suggetion at the moment.
