Was able to win without doing anything

Was able to win without doing anything

Just had a hilarious experience.  I was playing as Gilden...something, the guy that makes lots of money :).  Anyway, everything was going well, pretty early into the game, I had 3 champs, hadn't encountered any of the other factions yet, and was just building up my city basically.  When all of a sudden:

"Faction such and such has been eliminated!"

<Cinematic plays>

"Conquest Victory!"

I never even saw the other faction lol :).  So I'm not sure why the other factions got wiped out...but something needs to be tweaked here.  Maybe the neutral mobs were too strong/aggressive?

Other than that...was a great game!  Sad that it ended so prematurely.

Well, i lost several games cos creatures whipped out all my towns. So its pretty fair that the ai has a hard time as well :D

I allways start with 4 other factions, i play on challenging, in most games 1-2 factions get whipped out by the AI creatures which is pretty cool if you ask me

I believe the AI factions need to learn some defensive maneuvers, like training an early city defender.

"Early city defenders" can't stand up to 100-attack armies of monsters! And if you train an army that can, you've killed your economy.

Frankly, it's not worth it to defend your starting city right off. Sure, there's a 20% chance it'll die, but if you don't have to expend resources defending it, you're at a significant economic advantage. I prefer to have a roaming sovereign killing monsters before they even get close.

The AI needs to be more intelligent about early military, yes. But it just can't fight the OP monsters off as they are now.

I think your starting town needs some innate defense. I shouldn't be able to just walk in and take it, but we also have to recognize that it's practically impossible to properly defend it and grow your economy as fast.

Monsters on dense is always the best for me. The world is teeming with creeps and creep armies. Quite fun and hostile.

Monster difficulty is good now. In effect I fear what's beyond my borders early on and plan my approach accordingly. Effectively every game I've played it's been player vs world for a good 100 plus turns before I've met an ai. The monsters have Been toand giving mya early army of heros and spear men a run for their money. I played moderate magic normal ai and dense monsters with pariden
