I never understood why you could never just pick your favorite picture for each race, or why there was always so few pictures.
The devs need to fix this.

As for the issue discussed here. Yes, it's a cosmetic issue. Nevertheless it is an issue. MyFists Fix is wonderful (many thanks, will include this in sotyr) but only works for a max of 6 races. What if somebody wants 7 in his mod? Yes, it's not game changing and only a graphical issue. Still a valid point to ask for a fix isn't it? Who are we all to decide if someone is allowed to ask (and I say merely ask) for a fix to a problem??
Just because one person has no problem with a shortcoming does not mean everybody must not have a problem with it.
Yes, there are more urgent things that need addressing, but why not do us a small favor once in a while? (And from a programmers perspective which I happen to be this really is a minor task, probably 1 - 2 days programming and another 1 or two testing max - just guesswork here though)
If we had a cosmetic issue of one ship missing a texture and being all black (or worse, teamcolor for that matter) it would still be a minor issue and one could argue that it was made deliberately and does not do anything to the gameplay or performance and one does not HAVE to build that ship. Its still a bug (or shortcoming or ommission) and it is valid to ASK for a fix.

Do apologize good sir. In your case the request makes perfect sense. JCD's request was more of a whiny "I want things my way whaaaaa" and his attitude is either trollish or his IQ is approaching 50 or maybe both. And while I too wouldn't mind such a change, I just don't think its going to happen as it does involve a lot of reworking of the UI and such just because its a minor inconvenience.
In your case however its more of a technical issue that is giving your mod work problems. So I would gladly support this concept for that reason.

Didn't mean to be rude and no need for apologies to me. It's just we all know by now how JCD-Bionicman is (and argues or whines or whatever one thinks)
It's just that I think it is always valid to ask for a fix. His language might be lacking and showing the milieu in which he grew up and his might not be a tone to which some of us or the devs should respond to but the issue he brought up is in my opinion valid (even if he does not understand why 
)
As for me I for now can use MyFists fix but when the time comes and my mod is finally in the stages where one could ask for another race (ISA or Drakh) 6 pictures wont be enough any more. Perhaps that changes with rebellion though (if rebel faction gets its own pics)
And ryat, as much as I understand your comment there is never any reason for grown ups to let ourselves get to the level of our adversary and resort to insults (We hold ourself to higher standards, so we have to live by them 
)
I guess I don't have a problem with JCD because I no longer read his posts as his method of arguing is not to my taste.
It's possible to have more factions present depending on your creativity with the player setup screen. Agreed on rebellion, we'll have to see how that manifests itself.

You haven't been treated unfairly. You're just a piece of crap who refuses to believe that he's wrong. And Myfist wasn't supporting you, he was actually explaining what I had already said, if he would have bothered to read it maybe he would have known that... As I said, switching it to the icon system for the best way to make it work but as I also said which myfist didn't, that requires a lot of work to add an image (as well as convert over all of the existing images) since you have to do it 5 times over for every single image rather then just adding the image and increasing the number by 1 in a system that isn't broken. IN A SYSTEM THAT ISN'T BROKEN. That is why everyone else is saying fix other stuff first because other stuff IS broken. Now fuck off.

Thats thats less than 2 work weeks. It's not cheap to do (considering what a programmer/designer per week costs) but it's not that expensive if its a problem going forward with the sins engine. It's more a problem of development time I believe (devs - and I know hat I speak of - often have a very busy schedule)

Indeed. Personally, I don't care about the toggle set as even with the same race I'll change the image from time to time. I'm glad to see you can add races and more images overall, but the toggle design is not a huge issue. Even with fisto's offset count, it might still take some time to get exactly the combination of faces you want.
If you guys are seriously taking "retarded picturesets" as a personal insult to yourselves or the devs, your all a special kind of stupid.

Could the title have been different? Sure.
Does the title make me look a bit less intellectual? Sure.
Does the title being what it is excuse any of the comments made by other users? Absolutely not.
First impressions are everything JCD. That first impression always puts a colored shade on everything said thereafter in that thread. Just keep that in mind if you're trying to get the Dev's attention. *shrugs* Seems to work better when you don't insult (or appear to make light of) their work as it currently stands (right or wrong as that may be).

I agree that this would be a simple and worthwhile change. This game could use a lot of fluff that would make it infinately more awesome, but would have no change on gameplay what so ever! Things like multi-layer icons that you can piece together, with a laywer for your clan icon. Dual color sets, not just single color along with tons of different faction pictures would make this game much mroe awesome.

Retarded is insulting to the work they have done there. Could it have been done better? Yes. Is it retarded? no, because it works just fine. We may not like it's limitations, but it is working.
The devs need to fix this is a command, an order. You sir are in no position to order the devs around! You can start programming your own little perfect game (I doubt you could) but you are in no place to command others to do your bidding. Who do you think you are?

Will I complain to them? No, because they would mostly benefit my mod and do nothing for their work. I complain when something is definitely not working. I might take issue with a specific implementation and suggest a workaround. I will not command others to do it though.
