I was writing up a beta primer for the new players coming in today, had about six pages written up and... my laptop crashed completely. That's what I get for having FE running in the background
When writing text, you need to save it regularly, and preferably use multiple files.
Trust me, I'm a writer by profession, ctrl-s is muscle memory, unfortunately, this forum doesn't autosave posts, and I hadn't done a ctrl-a-ctrl-c-ctrl-v into a text doc yet
I think it is better to write the text in a text file and then copy it into the forum posting page. It is especially good if you have a program with autosave.
Depending on what word processor you were using, there still may be temporary autosaves stored as invisible files somewhere. Not sure how usable they are, but it may save you from starting from scratch.
No, that's what I'm saying, I was writing it in the forum post form, I'm used to another forum that auto-saves your material, so it's still there even if your pc/browser crashes.
Ah, in that case
I usually dump everything in a txt file once every few lines. Been doing that since Opera was in it's crashy period.
My sympathies.
Mine too. Still next time you won't be unprepared, and hopefully you'll remember most of the important stuff for your rewrite.
