A Couple Crazy Thoughts

I've already posted a couple bugs and it isn't perfect but FE is awesome. Maybe it's just because it's more recent but I feel like it's already way more fun than WoM.

The tactical combat is especially awesome. The new initiative system and some of the magic makes it deliciously sweet. I just went up against a drake that had beaten down some of my best units earlier. So I went in with three casters. One summoned an earth elemental, another cast giant growth on it, and the third cast graveseal on the drake so every hit was a critical. My elemental walked up and took the drake down in two shots. Crazy awesome.

Oh, did I mention giant growth actually makes your unit bigger? An enormous earth elemental stomping around is hilarious as long as it's on my side.

I agree. :)

I've got a list of bugs and suggestions but they are minor issues. Really impressed with what Fallen Enchantress is so far.

For me the acid test will be if each new game feels like a different world with different opportunities and threats. If it does I know I'll be playing it for years.

It seems like with a bit of refinement it'll be a really good game. Crashes every 15 minutes or so for me.

That's a shame. I've only had one crash so far.

In WoM, there were issues with balance between summoned units, hero units, and recruited military units.

I hope that this is just an early-game imbalance and doesn't reflect an ultimate imbalance between two unit types :p

They've always said they wanted late game magic to be extremely powerful. I like it so far. Your casters feel powerful but so do some of the creatures. It's your run of the mill soldier who is essentially cannon fodder.

I use Growth on my drake fodder so the one hit they get does enough damage for my mounted archers to handle the rest. It's pretty epic to fight some of these creatures. Good thing I am not lacking in slaves.

The units you train really do end up being trash that just screens your champions and casters. It reminds me of Lord of the Rings, with characters taking down dozens and dozens of enemies by themselves.
