'Auto Resolve', watching the ai battle it out

Was curious as to wether we would have the option to let the ai control our armies in the tac battles?  I really missed this feature in E:wom.  I always loved being able to play the first round of combat in aow:sm then setting my armies loose to do as they wished.  I've looked at all the vids & such only havn't been able to tell if this was in, just wanted to make sure it wasn't forgotten about.

Same here.  We might get it because Draginol wrote this back in October:

Players have the choice to either instantly resolve a battle or go to a tactical battle screen. Once there, they can either watch the battle resolve turn by turn, fight it out themselves or just resolve it.

My personal preference right now is to handle the first few turns and then turn it over the the auto play and watch the gory results.

Let's hope this didn't change.

There could also be a few AI personalities to choose from (something like defensivecarefulaggressive). I guess it won't be hard to implement since different factions will have different personalities (not only on strategic map, but also on tactical, am I right?), so the game will already have different AIs.

That would be nice indeed.

Already in.

Aww, that will be very nice. Once you see you have them whipped or have lost hope, even, watch it auto resolve.

Yea, the first hint to people who know me that I didn't work on the tactical AI in WOM was that there was no auto-battle feature because without it, how can I easily test AI vs. AI behavior?

Now, in FE, the AI behavior is still pretty crappy (the new APIs aren't hooked up yet) but it's 100X better than what you got in WOM. Which brings up something a lot of people don't realize about game development vs. software development: Good AI != Good programming. My coding abilities aren't that great. In fact, they're pretty terrible at times. The tactical battle AI in WOM was well written. It just didn't provide good AI.

Sorry to go on a tangent. ;)
