A simple question

It's been quite a long time as evidenced by the fact that I can't remember the date at which you can first talk to the AI in Dark Avatar. I have version v2.01 hopefully that's reasonably up to date.

I'm thinking the first date was April 1st but someone else mentioned March 1st. So which is it?

Also IIRC after speaking to an AI you can't speak to them for another 8 weeks and if you go to war with an AI you can't speak with them for 16 weeks.

Are these delays correct?

Hey Mumble.  Mottikhan in my Demigod clothing here.  I'm pretty sure the earliest date is March 8.

As far as the rest, I'm not sure.

Hiya Mumble! After speaking with the AI, load and reload and voila, you can speak to them again....IIRC.
I droped a game in the other day...just a normal game....was fun tho!

Well yeah except the slot 1 AI of course.

But I'm more interested in the first date you can talk to the AI and I'm sure it is the 1st of something. I thought is was March 1st if you're Super Diplomat (which I'm not) and April 1st if not (which I am) but then I've heard some conflicting information that said March 1st even if not Super Diplomat and now of course Motti mentions March 8.

I can find out quick enough but my choice of opponents is sort of dependent on the date I can 1st talk to them so it might help to know so that I avoid having to go back and try again. Not that I haven't had my share of going back and starting over.

I really haven't even tried to play in over a year but at the moment I've at least made some time available and have the inclination to give it another try.

In my case it's either going to be to go big or go home. I'm not looking for just another game I'm looking for the epic game of all time without of course using Dreadlords opponents (which I view as cheating) and even without going into a major early game bankrupt phase (which I view as a legitimate strategy, just not a necessary one).

My minimum acceptable target is 2M but 3M or perhaps even a bit more is the true goal. I have reasonable reasons to believe it's possible and at least the glimmer of a path that *may* have a chance of getting there.

But no guarantees. I'm practical enough to realize that just because something is theoretically possible doesn't mean it's realistically achievable but I'm willing to at least give it the old college try.

Yeah, the slot 1 AI is different.

I can test it out by starting a game with relations set to cool and see if they talk to me.  Or you could do the same with your character.  Shouldn't take long to test, just hit end turn a few times and try to talk.  To make sure there's no save/reload issue, you can use the slot 1 AI too.  Then dump the game and start a real one.

I wasn't aware that you could play against the DreadLords.  It sounded like a rumor to me.  I've never seen a DreadLord, in the regular or metaverse game.  I assume that some sort of mega event would have to happen for them to come out.

Yeah I can do the same but I'm looking for a very particular starting condition as well that can take awhile to get. But sure no reason not to try out a quick test and just find out for sure.

As far as Dreadlord opponents it was rumored to occur as a "quirk" in some configuration but in reality it was a config file edit that simply should not have been legal. I could probably figure it out again if I had to but I really don't want to give anyone the temptation of reviving the practice as it caused quite a bit of grief with me as the main target before Kryo finally acknowledge that he felt it was cheating and in the end KP agreed and that I think was the end of that.

The thing was that the Dreadlords did not colonize beyond their secondary, do not research and have an additional 10K (actually I think it was 20K) each and every turn for ridiculous amounts of free money from tech trades and perhaps even more that there's no benefit in going into. Suffice to say that in the end it's been accepted by everyone with any kind of stature as cheating but I took quite a bit of heat to get folks to finally agree to that and I have no desire to revisit that again.

Well that answers that. March 1st it is. I don't remember it being that soon. So much to do in so little time it boggles the imagination.

8 turns/16 turns for non-SD, 4 turns/8 turns for SD (general talk/declare war talk).

Which gives Feb 1st/March 1st for SD/non-SD respectively.

SD = Super Diplomat, obviously.
