Help! I don't think I can stop playing SWTOR long enough to try the FE Beta

Any ideas?  What should I do?

The same as any mmo if you're looking to quit. Find the unsubscribe button, click it. If you need some mental motivation, set a goal, burn out trying to reach it, then quit because there's nothing else worth your time in the game.

Or you could play SWTOR, a released game, now. And play FE when it gets released in a few months, maybe more.

You can play SWTOR in a window while playing FE.  Believe me, I know this for a fact.  I've made a lot of credits in SWTOR sending my guys out on missions. I can make artifact quality hilts and color crystals now $17k apiece on the market -- thanks to FE (because I wouldn't have had the patience to do that much crafting if I wasn't also playing FE in another window).

Wait, SWTOR cures cancer?

edit: I suppose, in light of the above comment, that it would be more accurate to say that SWTOR, when played properly and combined with diet and exercise, can help reduce your risk of cancer.

Great idea!  Problem solved.

I am so going to do this when FE is released :-)

I am a self proclaimed Starwars TOR addict on the Jung Ma server

You should join us on Kaas if you can.  We've got a few people from here in our guild now. I'm a level 30 Sith Marauder.

The dark side was strong, but i could overcome the temptation and now its a constant inner fight. Its by far the harder way. ;)

And yes, i have the same problem troja. :)

The Sith Empire is a combination of both light and dark sides of the force. As is the Republic. The only difference is that one of them is lead by politicians and the other is led by the undefeatable will of the Emperor.

You might say that being on the dark side or the light side of the force is therefore Sithuational.

*coughs*

At the root of things, the Dark Side is about personal liberty (at least for yourself) and egoism, while the light side is about altruism and organization.

So to give into the dark side is to be conservative, and light side progressive? ;)    No wonder Ron Paul actually has a chance, LOL.

Someone is sadly mistaken if they think Ron Paul has a chance.

I am thinking of picking up a copy of this and playing, but I don't know if I want to spend the money a month to keep an active membership.

Haven't been paying attention lately? It's almost certainly gonna be Mitt Romney at this point. Although Steven Colbert polled at 5% and wasn't even running, so if he decides to jump in he may have a chance. Hard to know how many people would seriously vote for him, and how many are just fans of his show but wouldn't want him in office.

Darn tootin' Ron Paul has a chance. Compare the polls from month in advance to actual results. Don't listen to the establishment's propaganda pundits. The boat is rockin'! I won't say another word to derail this thread - sorry mods!

Ya know I think we should all do a write in vote for Donald Duck because no matter who gets in the office they can be any worse than a duck with no brains :-)

How in the world could a post containing any reference to Star Wars go political?????

Back to the topic, I've got to show my age here.  No one--and I mean NO ONE--who wasn't born circa 1968-1970 simply cannot have the fanatical attachment to Star Wars as someone from that time.  EVER.  I was born dead center--1969--the same year we put a man on the moon.  When I hit 10, Star Wars was a phenomenon... it finally justified the geeky star-gazing computer nerds that comprised my group of friends.  Girls actually found it cool to hang out with a guy that didn't talk about Uranus in a context other than astronomy ;-)

With that said, *I* plan on hitting FE hard on its release, regardless of what the SWTOR galaxy is up to.

And sure, my current wife that found my geekiness cool back in 1979 that has since rubbed off and now completely limits my time on a PC (no MMO's) has a bit to say about it, too, but hey... a man's got to make choices.

As far as politics go, I have to have a JOB to pay the guys at Stardock for their games, I want to keep companies like Stardock around for their games so my kids will have great stuff to play, and I also want them to have jobs so they can buy them, so the current status quo has got to go.  I do not like our current leadership.  With that said, I used to be arch-conservative, but I'm quite put out with them, too.  Stop being so friggin' polarized, let go of your selfish goals, and do what's best for the some 307,000,000 people that put you into office.  Government is a necessity, but it should be limited to the needs of the people.

Can I get my FE beta now????????

To get yourself to stop playing TOR think about the legacy system and how you are probably wasting your time with your current character since once the system is unlocked you will be able to make the character you wanted all along.

Or think about playing Huttball another 4000 times.

Or how much better the game will be when your female character can mack on a female companion.

You could also download the demo for Kingdoms of Alamur that was released today :-) that should hold you over until the beta starts

Thanks askjosh, I didn't know Kingdoms of Alamur was even going to have a demo. DL'ing it now :) . Between that and all the add-ons for Shogun 2 I picked up yesterday I won't have a problem waiting for FE later today.

Your welcome :-) sadly I was not impressed with Kingdoms of Alamur and cancelled my preorder. Also with all the bugs and exploits that were introduced with version 1.1 of Starwars TOR I am considering cancelling my subscription. I have already reduced it from a 6 month sub to a 1 month at a time sub because of the way they are handling version 1.1
