Holed Up In York, NE

I am holed up in a hotel in York, NE. I will be delivering over in Lincoln, NE tomorrow morning but in the interim I am trying to stay inside, slug down Nyquil, and try to get over this damn cold.

I've been battling this cold for nearly a week now and I think it has hit it's peak now. I spent a lot of last night coughing and blowing my nose despite the Nyquil. It was the worst night since I started having cold symptoms. Hopefully I am on the downhill side of this thing now.

I had planned to check out of the hotel this morning but after last night I have decided to remain here another night, take more Nyquil, and try to get to feeling better before tomorrow. It's a lot easier to rest in a hotel room than in a truck.

Besides, the APU on my truck is not putting out any electricity at the moment. I know what's wrong, the big filter capacitor is fried, and I have a spare part as it's a common failure, but just don't feel up to opening the thing up and replacing the capacitor right now.

On the up side, I am only about 45 miles away from where I have to deliver, so I am pretty much where I need to be for tomorrow. For now I plan to just rest, take Nyquil, and hopefully get over the worst of this thing.

Sorry to hear you're down with a cold.  I usually start taking Zinc tabs at the first sign of a cold coming on and if I catch it early  enough, it is gone the next day.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Two of my best friends, one now deceased, RIP, hail from York. You do get around, Mason.  Get well soon.

I think you made a good decision with the hotel as far as being more user friendly when trying to get well.  I personally swear by Echinacea  tea and capsules,  With my compromised lungs I must jump immediately when I think I maybe looking at trouble.  QUIT SMOKING!  Hope tomorrow goes as smooth as silk.    :annoyed: >:(

Small world and all that. Getting around is what I do.

Thanks. The hotel is a better place to try and get over a bug for sure. The delivery was as I had expected. The truck I was delivering wouldn't start so they had to air up it's brake system and tow it off my trailer, which took a bit of time.

After that and getting something to eat I drove to Brock, NE to load a large tractor. By the time the sun set I still didn't have the over-size permits so I left the trailer there and bobtailed to the truckstop for something to eat and a place to park for the night. There is NOTHING in Brock, NE. Not even a gas station
