Black Screen of Death

For some reason, whenever I boot up the game, all I get is a black screen. No amount of waiting gets rid of it and I have to ctrl alt del to get out of it.

 

Any help?

Hello,

 

Are you running the game through Steam?

 

If so, try running the game directly from its executable here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\galactic civilizations ii - ultimate edition

 

If not, go here instead: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition

OK, so sorry about dredging this up again, but here's something strange...

I can boot up the base installation, or the Dark Avatar expansion like that, but if I try to go for Twilight of the Arnor, all I get is the black screen.

Edit: Never mind... I seem to have fixed the problem by ditching the old folder in my documents for the game... It was the same directory that held the stuff from before... That was before I reformatted the hard drive.

 

Whatever, everything seems to be good now...
