sound problem after patch

Hello, Is this game still being supported?  I have not heard back from Stardock in about a week with regards to my ticket for this game.  I installed the latest patch through gamestop impulse however it ended up corrupting the sound files.  I get different voices and randomized sounds when I play the game.  Comically, it's pretty funny to hear randomized sound files throughout the game ("this would be faster if I had wings when the intro movie plays)  but it really reduces the game immersion when the narrator and your demigod gives u all the wrong info.   Can anyone help with this sound problem?  I have already done a complete uninstall of the impulse and the game and a reinstall.

 

I tried checking the forum, but can't seem to fine a solution to this problem.

I fixed it. In your demigod files under program files and stardock games there is something called dem_loc_update and if you run that it will fix it in seconds. All my sound was back to normal everything.

For my computer it was under C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod. It is an application type program and shouldn't be hidden at all.
Make sure to run the dem_loc_update.exe as Administrator.

I don't have dem_loc_update.exe under the demigod folder.  I also did a search for it on my win 7 (64 bit) and can't find that file at all on my system.

 

I have tried to run demigod.exe as admin but nothing seems to work. Vanilla works fine if I uninstall and not upgrade to the patch.

Which files and folders do you have in your Demigod root?

under C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Demigod I have the following files and folders

bin

bindata

loc

movies

redist

sounds

dgdata.zip

eula.txt

readme.txt

uninsthelper.exe

 

the window's search could not find the file dem_loc_update.exe

I'm sorry,i have the exact same problem (sounds scrambled,already uninstalled and reinstalled,no dem_loc_update file).

Anyone has a solution?

Seriously I e-mailed them twice and no one responded.  I guess everyone is too busy working on enchanted princess and decided to neglect other games.  This game has so much potential if it was only supported with regular updates such as LoL.  With the sound issue, it does prevent you from knowing what's going on in the game.  I wonder if steam players have this problem.  It would be wise for stardock to stop selling this game until they fix the sound issue.

can you copy files from someone who has steam account and game working well?

Its probably rare issu, maybe something with sound settings in  windows?

Is everything else working well?

Did u try choosing different sound output device? (windows sound setup?)

I have fixed the problem.


1. backup your savegames ("C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games")
2. deinstall Demigod
3. reinstall normal (unpatched) version form original CD/DVD
4. backup the file "Forge.fev" in folder "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\Sounds" (Version 1.0 = 1.040 KB)
5. patch Demigod
6. backup the new file "Forge.fev" (Version 1.3 = 1.154 KB)
7. overwrite the file "Forge.fev" with 1.0 Version
8. recopy your savegames
9. start the game and have fun :)

 

P.S.
I have Windows Vista and a german Demigod Version.
Demon Assassine and Oculus have no Sounds
All steps go at your own risk, I assume no liability! ;)

Try to avoid installing from CD and patching (where the problem occurs), and instead download and install the game from Impulse. This is what worked for me recently.
