I also do not face books, but do READ books(as long as they do NOT need electricity for more than general lighting), but do browse through this forum.

My face is not on any books yet, and I doubt it will be in the near future. One can hope though

Not being a social animal I avoid sites like that. My wife on the other hand is very social and will check it from time to time for me.

I prefer forums, even if that makes me a dinosaur.
I will look at the page, but not friend it. I don't want any of my FB friends to come to this site and see how often I post. 
Facebook is the new forums. Why don't all you dinosaurs go to your BBSs and talk about kids today?

I personally am a proud Dinosaur and despise Facebook with all it privacy violating shenanigans. In my youth we were happy when we could telegraph our friends in the next town!

Facebook is for posers. I have no desire to show everyone what I "Like", or to know who is currently playing Farmville or some other game designed for imbeciles.
Now, where did I put that 28.8k modem...
Copying all the internet to a private hosted site (Facebook is one) is not a good idea. 
PS It's a joke. I know.
I'm not among the facebook users either, the concept of facebook is not for intelligent people. But anyways, good idea to be there too, I guess.

btw I was involved with the operation of a bbs back in 1980 when the FASTEST modem was a 300 BAUD acoustic coupler.

yes I remember them, from printouts on 13.2 inch tractor feed fanfold paper with LINES across the page, and even tried my hand at them back in 1980, but without the ability to reverse feed a half line they just did not work as well.
