GalCiv II Ultimate Box Edition Corrupted Impulse

Stardock,

I first installed the box version of Sins of Solar Empire Trinity which also installed Impulse.  The first time I ran Impulse it updated to the new Game Stop Impulse version and it worked great.  I then installed GalCiv II Ultimate box version and it seems to have corrupted Impulse.  When I run Impulse now it just crashed and Win7 asks if I want to check online for a solution with does not help with the situation.  Now I'm not sure what do to.  Should I uninstall Impulse and download the latest version from Game Stop? I'm not sure it that is the right thing to do. Help....  Thanks.

Edit: I get the following information with the error.  I'm also going to cross post this in the Stardock Technical Support so they can see it.  I dont know how to delete this post so please don't flame me for cross posting.

I uninstalled Impulse and installed the latest version from GameStop.  Now Impulse seems to work OK.  I was able to download the latest updates for Sins and GalCiv2.

More issues though.  When I run "Sins of a Solar Empire" a screen pops up saying "Stardock Account Registraton". I enter in my account name and password that I use on GameStop Impulse and it does not like that.  Do I no need to register an account with Stardock just to play the game now?

BTW- I did not realize that GameStop Impulse would use my Stardock account so I created a new account on GameStop impulse.  I wonder if that is part of the issue.  This is getting really confusing.

I hope someone can help me.

Those retail discs were created prior to the sale of Impulse to Gamestop and will be installing the then-current version of the app, which may no longer work.

Do I no need to register an account with Stardock just to play the game now?

Yes, a Stardock account is required to register and play the games if you have downloaded them or obtained updates online (the initial retail version should not). It will be the same account you're using to post on the forums though, so you already have that part done.

As Impulse is no longer owned by Stardock, the account systems are separate. But as Sins Trinity and GC2 Ultimate are now available from the Stardock store for direct download once you have registered them with us, you need not bother with Impulse/Gamestop at all. You can download the entire latest version of those games straight from us in your web browser (patching capability is forthcoming with the new SDC app's release).

kryo.

Thanks for the quick response!

I decided to register these games to my old Stardock account instead of making a new Stardock account.  The only issue now is that the Account Manager screen wont let me update my email address as I no longer regularly use the email address I used to create the account in 2008.  I'm trying to update my email address as instructed in the support page here but it is not working.  Can you provide some help with this too?

Thanks!

Found it.  To change your email address you need to go to the "Logon Info" tab.  That is not real obvious as it shows you your email address and all other personal information on the "Vital Stats" screen.

kryo- thanks for your quick support even early on a Sunday morning!!!!  Stardock has great Customer Support!!!
