I cannot play Trinity from Steam at all

Stardock Support cannot figure out my problem.

So, I have Windows 7 x64 and I recently bought the game. I had the opportunity to play the game on this machine before a couple years ago, but I decided to buy it through steam instead of finding the disks. After downloading, I get a prompt by this window called 'Stardock Account Registration'. There are 3 boxes I need to fill out: Stardock Account Email, Password, and Serial. I obtain my serial by right-clicking the game on Steam to view the key. I already had a Stardock account Email.

So, I fill those boxes out and I have to options: Quit and Register. I click Register, NOTHING happens at all. No error, no spinning wheel or any network activity from the program; nothing happens.

I have tried running the program in Compatibility mode, allowed the program through my firewall, made up random information, NOTHING. I also can make a new account in the program and clicking register through that only makes the program flicker.

I sent a video to Stardock support and they are stumped. I really want this game to work, but I don't know what else I can do.

Also, disconnecting my internet gives me an error, but no activation alternatives other  than contacting [email protected] like I already did...

Any ideas?

I have also tried running the EXE directly but to no avail.

Please email [email protected] with the email you are using and the serial.  We'll see what we can do to help.

I did email them first, and they do not seem to know the answer... Thanks for the reply.

Try clearing out C:/Program Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/License and try again.

I tried that. However, the folder is empty no matter. I did delete everything that Stardock created including that directory and redownloaded as well.

I found a fix. Just copy/extract these two files into the game directory; overwriting the existing. These two files are an OLDER activator that worked flawlessly for me.

Link removed - please do not distribute files here.

xTRICKYXX: feel free to describe what steps you took . .  But distributing files violates the license.

I am distributing an older program to Activate the game.

Sorry.

The newer program would not work for me, so I obtained an older version of SDActivate instead.

*What I distributed are two files from the older installation of Sins. It is merely the activation software; NOT the game. I think the link can stay as I uploaded it myself.

You cannot distribute any part of the game, whether it be files or anything else.

What he said.  We do appreciate trying to help, though.

What I distributed is Stardock's activation software. It is not part of the game.

The problem here is that if a person were to obtain an illegal copy of the game, they could use what you are distributing to enable them to use the illegal copy of the game.

Therefore, your link would help the ones who were using warez versions. Not a good thing.

The Stardock activation software is really the part you pay for when buying a game. If things work like I think they do.

if someone illegally downloaded the game, the older activation software would still not allow them to have it. You would still need a legit key.

It would if it were the older game, would it not?

The principle still applies, either way. You are distributing an older program to activate a newer game, are you not?

You're contradicting yourself now.

This is pointless...

xTRICKYxx, you did not create or own the copyright to the files you attempted to distribute. While your intentions were good, if you distribute them it is piracy.
