Does't work for Win7

from Stardock Forums

I downloaded the version which states works in windows 7. When I choose one the pre-installed logons and then click apply, the computer locks but the logon screen is exactly how it's always been. I even tried running it as Administrator. Still doesn't work.

 

I've also tried it on my friend's win7 machine, and had the same effect. This hasn't been working for a long time, I know that. This isn't the first time I've tried using it.

 

Either fix it or remove the mention of it working on Windows 7 from the product page. Free software or not. false advertisement is bad.

What type of computer are you trying to run LogonStudio on, laptop or desktop and what make, model?  

In some cases it will make a difference, all computers are different, especially laptops.

Have you recently installed some other customizing software that could be causing this problem?

Yes, Philly is on to something.

 

I have a Toshiba laptop that has a locked down logon screen and wouldn't let me change it. But a tweak I found on these forums fixed it an I now am able to change logons.

LogonStudio works fine on Win7, you obviously have some other conflict or issue going on with the app.

So yea I just got this Gateway NV75S02u laptop. I haven't installed any other customization software. firefox, adobe, and AVG are the only things i've put on it so far and I'm having the same problem.

LogonStudio didn't want to work on my Toshiba laptop until I made this small settings change, now it works fine.

A lot of newer laptops are being made with a set default logon screen that can't be changed unless you do this, it's not a LogonStudio thing, and it isn't a Win 7 thing. It's an OEM MFGR. thing.

As redneckdude stated the existence of defaultbackground.jpg in windows\system32\..... was the cause of my logonscreen not 'sticking'.  Once I renamed it with a 'bak' extension and set my logon screen it worked fine.
