Mods Locking Up - need help

I'm playing Diplomacy v1.34.  I have installed mods into the correct folder and when in the game I can see the mods available in the Mod window.  When I enable the mods and then click on apply changes the game locks up and never recovers.  I've only tried 2 mods so far - Real Capital Ships and Improved Hangar Capacity.  Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks. Tom

The mods you download need to be for your version of the game. The hangar capacity mod is for vanilla sins v1.12 I believe. You can find some that will work here.... ricksgalaxy.com  click on the mod links page.

Well, they are old mods... not sure that they are updated to work with the last version of Diplomacy... last official version of "real capital ship" was for entrenchment... there was a non official release from Diplomacy but the file is from end feb 2010...

Will help a lot of new player if modders can agree on some naming convention for their release... by example :

"name_of_the_mod"-"sin/ent/dip"-"version number"."ext rar/zip/7z/etc"...

About mod, to my knowledge, only one is updated to dip v1.34 ... it is called "Distant Star" ... go to https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/335474/page/255/ , read the OP ( opening post at the top ), download the 1.32 for diplomacy, scroll down to the end of the page, reply 6375 from Stan123 have link to the DS patch for dip 1.34 ...

Last update is enough fresh, give some time to modders for adapt their mod... in case of dead mod, sometime, fan upgrade them but it is rare...

1.34 is the very latest ver of Diplomacy. Some of the most frequently updated mods haven't updated to this ver, so I would suggest trying a more popular mod. Requiem, Sacrfice of Angels 2, etc....and don't forget mods use more ram so you will need to turn down your graphical settings from highest. Unless you will mini dump .

Thoumsin, thanks for the info. I downloaded DS 1.32 - should I install this in my Diplomacy Mod 1.32 folder or install it in the 1.34 folder?  Also, on the patch to 1.34, do I just install this as a normal mod in the 1.34 folder?

By the way, I'm downloading the .rar files directly into my the appropriate mod folder and then unzipping them there.  Does this make a difference?  The mod names are showing up in the game but then the game crashes when I enable them.

Thanks - Tom

You always need to have your mods in the mod folder of the version of the game you're using. Some mods from 1.32 may still work without problem, others may need to be updated. As its been less than a week since the last updated some of the mods may need a bit of time before they're updated again.

Sounds like you're doing it right, as if you did it wrong rather than crash nothing should happen. ;) Try posting in the mod thread to see if the mod does in fact work for 1.34 and for additional support if needed.

Put the DS mod in your 1.34 folder, and as per the instructions I gave with my links, when you get the patch, copy and paste the files into their proper locations overwriting what's already there.

Follow Stant123 instruction... it work perfectly... use random map or map with DS in their name for play... only way to enjoy all the planet type added with these mod...

A advice, if someday, there is a 1.35 patch, copy everything in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empirev1.34" before update... it is a easy way to have a "backup" from old version... allowing to play older mod not yet updated... after update, exe in the usual directory are 1.35 and exe in your backup will be 1.34... each time that you launch a other version, configuration files are reset, like when you use the dev.exe...

Well, i don't remember for the 1.32 version ( i simply copy it and paste for newer version )... but if you unzip the patch to 1.34 in the directory "Mods-Diplomacy v1.034", 3 new directory will be created who need to be moved in the DS mod directory...
