A Powerful Warrior he was

Two challenges for AI champions and sovereigns:

#1 Have them intelligently improve themselves over the course of the game (without cheating):

Done.  Level 10 means he’s been beating the crap out of monsters and enemies.

Second challenge: Get him to use this power intelligently in tactical battle…

Nope, not there yet.

Do you simultaneously work on AI for E:FE and E:WoM (upcoming patch), or just focus on the former one? Are there many differences between the two games in terms of basic AI mechanics? (Define "basic". Yeah, I know...)

that picture doesnt really explain why he's an idiot.. if the champion is that good at lvl 10 and can beat the crap out of enemies, then maybe he can take on all those units by himself..? Or if this is not the case, should he have immediately fled the battle or not have entered it to start with?

I think you were going for "A powerful warrior was he" , but ya very cool.

Just give him the 'idiot' trait and save yourself some time with the A.I, Brad.

556 dodge sounds like a lot. I bet he'd kill those enemies easily. Go all matrix on their asses.

I'm not doing anything more on WOM at this point.

FE is a totally different game from an AI point of view.  I am trying to think if there functions I was even able to salvage from WOM but nothing significant comes to mind.

Even basics like finding places to start cities and deciding how to put together armies and build up cities has changed.

He could have cast some powerful magical spells and blew them away.

It's getting the AI to cast magic spells intelligently that will have to be looked at.

The spell system in FE is totally different than WOM but it has a lot of AI tags available to it which lets the AI potentially do smart stuff.

And yes, technically, he would have won this battle if Relias weren't there too because he does all Matrix-like on archers while taking companies down in a single swing.

Thanks for reply. I really like to read your posts about AI. BTW, I like that there will be a non-cheating-AI in FE.

How did he get 556 dodge? The stat is way off from the others which is why I'm asking.

Yeah, I'm interested too.  With a dodge stat that big, he should be able to avoid almost all regular attacks (if it works similar to WoM).

I think there is an insane dodge spell. Or maybe he is ninja class.

Thanks for the update! It's great to see you being able to spend time on the AI.

He's a warrior, not some candy ass party-trick mage.  You don't get to level 10 without getting dirty and bloody.  By every means, this guy is doing it right.

Besides, after winning (well, nearly) the battle, he'll need his "skills" to survive the masses of women as he recovers.

And that's why they call this Fantasy gaming!

I think this one lvl 10 hero could make it through all of Baldur's Gate I by himself, & look good doin it.

Edit: "Thanks for reply. I really like to read your posts about AI. BTW, I like that there will be a non-cheating-AI in FE."

        I second this

What if the spells were divided into the various spellbooks, in a collapsible list?  On the character (unit details) screen, anyways...

I agree, this would be useful.

I notice that Charisma is not mentioned on Karavox's stats sheet.  Is this because it is not relevant to battle?

Re: Spell Casting AI Thoughts on how not to waste MANA on insignificant foes.

01. You have a surplus of Mana

01.1 Enemy Force does not have a spell caster

  • 01.1.1 No enemy Spell Caster + Enemy force is Weak + enemy subsceptible to physical damage = DO NOT use magic as this would be a waste of mana
  • 01.1.2 No enemy spell caster + enemy is weak + enemy is  not subsceptible to physical damage = Use Magic
  • 01.1.3 No enemy spell caster + strong enemy + enemy susceptible to physical damage and you are largely immue to physical damage = do not use magic
  • 01.1.4 No enemy Spell caster + enemy force is strong and can damage you = Use Magic

Maybe he was saving his mana to cast teleport or volcano later on?!?
