Fences not working on my Win7 64bit system

Hello,

I would like to test Fences Free in order to evaluate Fences Pro purchase.

After the installation of fences_public.exe I have no Fences GUI, no right click menu. I tried to click on Fences icon in Start Menu, nothing happen.

Could you help me? I am available to run any test on my system if you like to solve this issue.

Many thanks

Alfredo

It's possible that the install was corrupted.  You might try uninstalling, run a cleanup program and then reinstall.  Where are you downloading Fences from?  Once you get it installed you need to open up Fences and create a fence, it doesn't come with any.

Hi Philly,

I've already tried to unistall and cleanup and reistall. No success.

I cannot open up Fences, clicking on its icon has no effect! No Fences GUI after hourglass.

I downloaded Fences from Stardock site.

Many thanks again. Regards,

Alfredo

Not sure what to say.   It should run on XP 32 bit, Vista or Windows 7, 64bit or 32 bit.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and Fences Pro with out any problems.

Are you possibly running any other desktop software that might conflict with Fences (other than Stardock stuff)?

I'm running Dexpot, but I also tried to unistall it, cleanup, then install fences... no way

I asked a question to one of the Stardock folks, what OS and Language version are you running?  It's possible that if you are not running English that maybe the problem.

Do you have any security apps running? Maybe the install was blocked, at least partially. Try installing with your AV/Malware apps disabled.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1 Italian.

I tried also install after disabling AVG2012

Can you change the Language to English and see if that works?

Just changed. Installed after the reboot, same issue.  :(

Well.  Something has to be the problem.  The only other suggestion I can make is even though this is the free version email [email protected] and included a link to this thread.

Sorry that we couldn't figure this out.

Maybe we can get a Mod to move this post to the Support Forum, you may get more assistance that way.

You mentioned you had Dexpot installed.  Did you completely remove it, or simply disable it?  Also, do you have any other non-Stardock desktop enhancements installed?

Completely removed Dexpot, cleanup registry, reboot, installed fences. No success.

I have no other desktop enhancements.

Are you installing logged on as Admin?

UAC on or off?   If on, try turning that (imo) worthless junk off before installing.

UAC off, ran fences_public.exe as admin, same bad behaviour.  :(

Have you done that yet?

If you have then post the ticket number here. If not then do so email [email protected] and wait for a support tech to get back to you.

After receiving a ticket number do not resend another request as this will move your position in the response queue to the end.  Support are off for the weekend so the earliest you will hear back from them is on Monday.
