Winstep releases Winstep Xtreme v11.10 and Nexus dock free v11.10

Add breathtaking eyecandy to your desktop!

The Winstep Nexus dock is a FREE, dock for Windows. Nexus is one of the most attractive, powerful and flexible docks available today, boasting just about every feature you’d expect from a dock and much more: widgets, mouse-over effects, skins, drag-and-drop, live icon reflections, background blur, full system tray and tasklist support, built-in animated icon support, etc.

Completely customizable, Nexus Ultimate has thousands of backgrounds freely available online and is fully compatible with backgrounds for all 3rd party docks.

A superb collection of utilities and desktop enhancements, Winstep Xtreme will change the way you work with Windows forever. An integrated workspace environment, Winstep Xtreme is a powerful suite of desktop enhancement utilities that merge incredible usability and performance with breathtaking eye candy. The Winstep Xtreme suite includes the following applications:

Nexus Ultimate:

Nexus is the dock system, and is just perfect for super fast access to your most used applications.

You can have as many docks as you want, and each can have multiple sub-docks! When not in use, docks can hide behind your screen edges, taking virtually no screen space.

Workshelf:

Workshelf is a tabbed dock (Shelf), better suited to complex organizational duties like organizing documents, URLs, movies, work projects, etc... If a dock is the top of your desk, then Workshelf is all the drawers below it.

The Shelf makes it possible to have a 'clean', uncluttered, desktop with no icons on it whatsoever by hiding the icons on the Desktop - icons that can then be quickly accessed via the Shelf's Desktop tab.

NextSTART:

NextSTART is the menu system - and takes care of all your task management needs as well.

Menus are great for accessing infrequently used files and system related commands that aren't easily reachable in the file system or that have no readily user-recognizable graphic representation. The task management part of NextSTART allows you to efficiently organize and manipulate running tasks and windows.

Modules:

Modules, widgets, gadgets, docklets, desklets, are all different words to describe the same thing: mini-applications that usually live on your desktop and provide a staggering amount of information regarding your system.

Winstep Xtreme includes the following modules: a speaking Atomic Clock, Recycle Bin, Email Checker, Weather Monitor, CPU, Net and RAM Meters and the amazing 'fortune cookie' Wanda.

Winstep Start Menu Organizer Pro:

The Winstep Start Menu Organizer is an application designed to help you organize and clean your Windows Start Menu.

You never realise just how much you miss something until it's gone. Thanks for sorting out the weather feed, Jorge.

Yeah, Thanks Jorge. I'll be renewing as soon as I can!

Well, since it's better to be safe than sorry, Winstep applications now support two different weather forecast feeds (besides METAR for current weather conditions, which never stopped working), just in case one goes dead.

No need now, Jorge.  Apparently WG's local fire service has loaned him a few buckets until the truckload of Depends arrives :w00t: .

Doesent seem that popular if you look at the downloads...?  hmmmm

You mean the 313,384 downloads for the 'Windows 7 Xtreme' theme is not enough to make Xtreme a popular enough application for you?

Damn.

Edit: Doh! :-P

Not really, but only because it's like that on purpose: that menu is showing the contents of a folder on your hard drive. You see, NextSTART is so functional that you can actually drag a file from, say, the Desktop (or even another folder menu in NextSTART) and drop into that folder menu: the file is actually copied or moved into the folder that menu is displaying the contents of, just like it would if you were using Explorer windows instead of NextSTART menus.

Because of this functionality, it's important that folder menus make the distinction between shortcuts and the files themselves.

So, you would be better off creating a new 'regular' menu with the built-in Menu Editor and dragging those files into the menu you just created. Non-folder menus do not display shortcut arrows, so your problem would be solved.

I Wanna skin it ! Got any tips Jorge ? Can you help me ?

Unfortunately you will have to wait a little while for the long promised Winstep Theme builder application (currently vaporware, please be gentle!).

Before v9.5 all skinning settings were part of the UI GUI of Winstep Xtreme, but when the UI was revamped those settings were removed to keep it simple, since most users are not skinners. The idea was to move them to a separate application - the very same one that is currently in vaporware land.

Hopefully not for much longer, though.

Jorge : Thanks, I will do that !

I love Winstep and use it every day. Having said that, I only had two issues,  The weather is fixed. How about the Safely Remove Hardware Internal Command?

My sub expired in Sept. and I do plan on renewing at some point in the future so keep up the great work, awesome software!

Neone6, working on it.

Wizard1956, ended up forgetting about that issue, sorry. I know it has something to do with the automatic 64 bit file system re-direction for 32 bit applications.

-if you need any graphix for it Just give me the word !

I still have the old Winstep exterme version 9.XXX renamed to nextstart one, I just rename the current to BAK or whatever  and rename the OLD one to nextstart I then can skin the theme to my liking save it and then the new and latest ersion will see the changes and use it.  Just takes some re-naming of the nextstar exe.  If you have the old 9.xx version of Winstep. Also if you are brave enough you can go in and make different Png Files or BMP whichever the skin uses and re-name the old ones and save the new ones under originial name and wallo your theme has been skinned. I know this works as this is what I do, After you make your changes you must reapply the theme you changed files in.

Cool man ! Although, Hmmm... guess i´ll wait for that Program (chicken) :sun:

Awwww .... whatever happened to living dangerously.

Question ... how do I get access to the graphics for the skins? Haven't been able to find a way. But then again I haven't really given it a good shot yet. I'd like to give it a try.

Go to users\public\public documents\winstep\themes, select the them and then you can modify the PNG or BMP filed to your hearts content I use Paint Shop Pro x2 for this, I am sure MS paint will do the same or just use the graphics program of you choice, I some times import from one theme into another them. I always rename the original first then import so I do not overwrite the Original the same when I create my own PNG or BMP file.
