Confused about Stardock, Impulse and Gamestop for FE

Sorry, I have been out of it for a while. I have not played Elemental since about 3 weeks after its release, and I have not used the Impulse client to update or download any programs since then. IIUC, Impulse is now being run or has been sold to Gamestop. I am not clear on what that means exactly even after having read two dozens threads on that matter on this site. My question here is this: When FE comes out sometime next year, barring the possibility that its release will be as tragic as E:WOM was, I will be interested in giving it a try. I belong to one of those people who pre-ordered EWOM a year before its release and hence are able to DL and play it without additional purchase cost ("for free"). Since I have no idea what Gamestop is, my question is this: Do I need to do anything (and if so, what?) to register with Gamestop or whatever Impulse is now called in order to be able to get my "free" copy of FE and its successor, or does the Impulse client I have now and which I have not updated in quite some time have the ability to recognize me as one of those who are entitled to such a copy?

From what I've understood, FE will be available through Stardock's new download service to everyone who bought War of Magic last year.

Yeah, you don't need to do anything at the moment.  When the time comes, we will let you know how everything will proceed.

In fact, you won't have to do anything.

FE isn't one of those "free" offers where you have to jump through hoops. You just get it and we'll go out of our way to make sure you KNOW about it.  

It is very important to us that every single person who bought WOM in 2010 get FE.
