Just bought this off Amazon and cannot update it at all. The update ervice hangs forever and bogs my system down to a crawl. Please tell me there's an alternative, this is atrocious.
There will be a new software called Stardock Central coming out soon. All Stardock games will be serviced from there I believe. People are pissed at Gamestop for ruining Impulse. It was so well run when it was in Stardock's dept hands.
In the meanwhile, please contact Gamestop's support directly if you're having issues with Impulse.
Well this is a shame, guess Ill be returning the game which is way preferable to dealing with Gamespot.
I'd recommend waiting
a) The new updater will be out soon. The FE beta is supposed to be out in around two weeks, and the new client will be out before FE beta is out. It's coming really soon.
b) You're supposed to get a discount on FE for buying the original game. If you get WOM ultra-cheap, it may be cheaper to keep it.
c) One suggestion- try 4am to download from client-I-refuse-to-name, you can sometimes get it to work then.
d) Are you using an email to log in? That's required now I think.
Thankfully in two weeks Stardock fans won't have to worry about dealing with these problems. I don't blame Stardock for Gamestop's mismanagement, but it's still very disappointing because one of the best choices became the absolute worst.
Yeah I guess I will wait, not really worth the trouble to send it back. Just really frustrated I can't play the game I purchased and it's unbelievable Stardock doesn't provide links for it's own patches.
You only get the discount if you bought it before the cutoff time. I don't know when that was but it feels like it was earlier in the year. And I have been waiting two years for this game. Also, how are you a 2.4M forum user that just now got the game? Old GalCiv gamer?
I am the same way. I wait for cheap games to come out so that I cane get them. I got mine off of amazon as well. I am guessing yours didn't come with a game ID code either. Is there another way to the the updates yet? Anyone know?
there is two other methods for the downloading of the current version of the games(e:wom, e:fe & sins trinity),
1 go to (https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/) log in with your account that has the e:wom registration (if you do not have the installation/registration code then email [email protected])
2 go to this thread(https://forums.stardock.com/419935), download the SDC beta, insert the install code for the game into your account, then download, and if you have problems then again email [email protected]
