Karma points

Wow, apparently my forum understanding is covered in noob sauce, because I was giving people karma points, thinking it was a general "hey, thanks, you're awesome," which it is, but it's not general. It's specific to the topic you're giving the thumbs up on. So my comments look like they apply to that specific topic which in some cases might be confusing. I didn't have time to send a karma point to everyone I wanted to, but for those who got one and wonder, sorry community. I turn 30 tomorrow so I could blame it on that - I could say, "I'm getting old" (though age is relative and 30 is not old). Or I could blame it on the fact that this week is also my dad's birthday and my girlfriend's birthday - I could say "I'm distracted," but no, just clumsy old me. I'll remember next time. Here's to hoping that this topic helps other new people on the forum.

It's not a big deal. If you want to give general karma just go to their profile and give karma there.

Edit - I gave you some generic karma ;)

Yup, though personally I find it fun to actually look back at which comments spurred people to give me karma.

 

Karma is really informal.  There's no official rules, and so long as you're acting in good faith it's really all about recognizing active contributors to the community.
