Win8 Metro Style Icons

Hello guys I am working on some Metro style tile icons and need some input on what looks best. Circles on tiles yes or no? Multi-color tiles yes or no?

I use the Metro theme because its different for a change then the transparent norm of Aero, but those icons look interesting. If you have a test set of them, please send me a private message and I can give you detailed feedback :)

If you really want to shake things up, give them a 3-D effect using light, shadow, and reflection.......(or not):|

Plain boring like the whole metro idea. Sorry.

I have to agree...... Not my cup of cake

Those icons are a huge step backwards. They definitely need some tweaking.

I would suggest using darker colors over a white back ground, they are too bright and clash badly imo.

Gotta say i agree, These look like something from 10 years ago. Win 8 Metro is a major step backwards in my opinion

Wow thanks for the info.  I will not release these icons since metro seems to not be very popular. I do own a win7 phone with mango and I do love the interface.

This is like Windows 98 all over again.  But wait...Win98 icons used more colors than this.  I could go into MS Word 2010 and apply a simple bevel to these icons, and it would look a million times better already.  This reminds me of Adobe's CS3-5 Icons, except there's no gradients.

@RoodVargas, Since desktop customization seems to be a niche market now, you could work on and release a "spiced up" version of these metro icons with high-resolutions for docks; as well as shadows, lighting, reflections, bevels, etc. For the casual, mainstream market/users, release the same icons as you pictured above.  Just a suggestion. ;)

Win8 Win8 Win8. That's it. Awesome boot time, low resource usage. If it works that's what using a computer really should be all about. Skinning for it is another matter. With the bright creative minds around here I have no doubt that it will be made to look cool and that's what WC is all about. :)

I agree with VistArtXPosed. Don't let the opinons of a few discourage you from releasing your work.

As an artist and a skinner the most important thing for me is the issue of customization... CAN you skin it and HOW MUCH ?

If all those boxes frames and backgrounds are indeed skinnable it probably would look really awesome if someone did a " Win 8 Out-of-the-box Blind" for it. If the more "regular" look is skinnable as welll......I´d buy it for sure !! :star: :sun:
