StarDock Recommendation

Hi,

This should probably be in support, but I have a 3hr resource time recommendation based upon the support of Windows7 (to which I'm using).

Can you please add the toggle option to hide/show StarDock in the notification toolbar (next to clock) in the next build?

Windows offers the option to show/hide particular notifications, but the StarDock option always overwrites the default.

My theory behind this, is that it is clearly noticeable that you have this app running, and not to make it a default feature but rather an override and accessible feature for people (like me :) ) to toggle (like start on load). Make this (again) override-able to the default Windows 7 show/hide.

Please please please

Thank you in advance,

Samuel Cook

Stardock isn't an app. Which program are you speaking of? Windowblinds? Object Dock? What?

Definitely a confusing post, I have no idea what this person is asking. 3hr resource time recommendation...? Stardock option overwrites the default...? ???

but I have a 3hr resource time recommendation

sounds like he is  on a spaceship thats on a self destruct countdown.....

i guess he is nothing but digital mass now.........

Digitally insignificant massed protoplasmic nonsensicals? Wow!

I think he is talking about ObjectDock and the always on systray icon. You can set it to always hide but the setting reverts back to show icon and notifications, usually after explorer restarts,like applying an icon package.

@ SamuelCook: No, there is no way to turn the icon off completly, as in WindowBlinds but it would be a nice option.

wow, thank you... excuse me for speaking of the original creators application name under the original title.

@RedneckDude: ObjectDock

@LightStar:

    1, 3hr resource time recommendation...? -> 3 hour development time

    2, Stardock option overwrites the default...? -> StarDock overwrites Windows 7 option to show/hide the icon in the notification toolbar

@Vampothika: sounds like he is  on a spaceship thats on a self destruct countdown.....: because I've been on a spaceship...?...(that's just weird)

@Uvah: Digitally insignificant massed protoplasmic nonsensicals?: I have no idea what that is...(again just weird)

When was ObjectDock ever called StarDock??  Other than here! lol XD XD XD

SamuelCook...

Forgive them...it's hard to get good help....;)

Confusion reigns. "Stardock" is the company name.  "ObjectDock" is [one of] their product.

I have no idea where "3 hour development time" pertains to anything here.  It appears an arbitrary creation on your part.

Re the suggestion, provided the request is clear, it may be seen and acted upon where/when/if possible, but the number one requirement is for the request to be clearly defined.... eg "Stardock" does not overwrite any Windows 7 default...;)

Thank you Jafo,

I cannot clearly find a way to hide the ObjectDock Icon in the notification toolbar, either in the ObjectDock Settings and in the Windows 7 Notification Area Icons. If you know of a way to close this issue then I'm all ears.

I just came from Vista, and had the Vista/Dell dock that was great, and now that I've upgraded, I can't find a way to hide the icon. I'm the person that likes to have nothing showing, but everything running in the background.

The 3 hour development time relates to upgrades/automatic downloads that StarDock should/does do to ratify new issues that they deem important/fairly important (in my case :) ) to resolve.

But again, I just can't find a clear way to hide the icon. And as simple as it is, I have written out a lengthy response. FML :)

Thanks for any further responses (minus the protoplasmic ... I' don't understand what your saying responses),

Normally I have the icons set to 'always show'.

However, to test your problem I reset them individually so that most would 'always show'...some would only '

show notifications' and ObjectDock would 'never show'.

That succeeded in removing the icon from the taskbar.

Instead you will be stuck with the standard Win 7 'arrow' that says "Show Hidden Icons" ...;)

I knew there was something I liked about you... :thumbsup:

Right, it is just my wish that I could hide the icon without the arrow, and without it being in the notification toolbar...

If there is an update on this, please let me know! I'll be waiting :) !!

Thanks again Jafo,

And just reading over your comment again... I don't have a 'never show' option on the Notification Area. Where are you seeing that? I only have 3 options,

a, show icon and notifications,

b, hide icon and notifications;

c, show notifications only;

mine is set to B; hide...

The arrow pertaining to hidden icons is a Win 7 feature.  ANY hidden icon will cause the arrow notification icon to show...;)

There's little point in creating a specific option for one company's program icon to be able to be individually removed in total...not when so many others are not...;)

It's quite possible that this may be a non-adjustable feature in the MS Windows design structure.   --Ace ---

wow, that seems simple enough..,thanks Jafo !!   --Ace --

It just seems that with other programs that show in the toolbar, there is a toggle option that i can automatically set [within the program] that will make it hide in the notification toolbar.

I do definitely agree though..

@BigDogBigFeet: apparently that was a mistake.. sorry!!

No need to be sorry I sometimes go for the easy shot.

In any case what you want isn't entirely practical for ObjectDock.  The icon present in the system tray allows for an alternate access point that is useful when ObjectDock is hidden off screen and covered by other windows.

Hey, watch it! You trying to ruin my reputation or something? }:)

My mother could be reading this!

I have everything but the clock and volume hidden, so I just took a guess.

@ Jafo, they do stay hidden for the most part  but the setting reverts back to show icon and notifications, usually after explorer restarts, like applying an icon package, but not every time and not always the same icons get the option changed. I think it's a Windows bug (or random feature, if you prefer)
