I have a feeling that this may be something to do with either Windows live messenger, or Avast Virus program. When I start up Windows ( 7 32bit) my cursor is skinned, but when Avast kicks in it goes back to unskinned cursor. The only way to get it back is to go to the taskbar, hover my mouse over live messenger taskbar button, and when the preview comes up, click it. The cursor becomes skinned again then......
Not sure if this is the same for everyone, but may be worth taking a look at. Hope this helps..... B[]
Hello, fellow CFX users. A new update # 2.10.023 is now showing in Impulse and the store. I just installed it and both the issues in the OP have been fixed, and it applies cursors with one click!!!
Great job, Stardock!
Still taking 2 'Applies' here with the 2.10.023 update. Also still randomly switching from the CXP theme to default Windows cursors & back again.
Sorry to rain on the parade. Also Win7/64. Uninstalled CXP before running the new store download installer but did not reboot in between, FWIW.
Everything seems to be working okay for me, click on a new cursor to select and one click to apply it. Current cursor does change to default when mousing over stuff.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, downloaded the update from the store site, didn't uninstall older version, did reboot.
"Current cursor does change to default when mousing over stuff."
Did you mean does NOT change to default?
Oops, yes I did mean NOT, sorry about that.
update: nope still got quite some quirks as Daiwa mentioned, for example open up any given window maximize its height so it almost touches the taskbar, then move youre mouse cursor down the window bottom frame to the taskbar where it shows you the resize cursor and youll see itll switch to the default windows cursor for a sec ....
not to mention theres one more huge bug when i fullscreen minecraft i dont get a cursor but if i use my default windows cursor i can see it ...please fix that the same goes for when you right click the steam icon in notifications tray or play a steam game like half life 2 episode 1 etc , id appreciate tons, seems to be a prob with java and fullscreen that cursorfx is having or java coding in general ?...peace
anybody home??
After a few days of working fine I now have a blank Cursor again in conjunction with intense use of Multiplicity. Please, both are YOUR apps...
Yeah, I get that too, but I don't use Steam much. For the one game I have that it disappears on, I've been disabling CFX but then you get that phantom frozen cursor left over as described by Jason Carver in this thread (reply #8)
the update is working good here
with an animated Cursor (X-fire) with a Trail and Left and Right Button Down Effects.
I have 80 installed out of 290
its hilarious how they tell you to stay calm and positive but in the end they release a minor update instead of fixing theyre broken software completely
for this wheve waited 3 weeks???? im getting pissed off here!!
"Yeah, I get that too, but I don't use Steam much. For the one game I have that it disappears on, I've been disabling CFX"
reeaaalll great a half working cursor replacer , thats not what we pay 20 bux for ![]()
well you there zubaz???
how bout an bugfix for the problems mentioned , this product is still ways from being a full version ,its a joke thats what it is ripping off customers for half finished software for years
hentai345, you might want to check your attitude. I fail to understand how people think they can just get on these forums, show their asses, and expect to get good results.
Politeness goes a long way. We all get frustrated, but to say "I'm getting pissed off here" makes me laugh. Should we be worrying about that?
I know I'm afraid.
Come on, get real. Half working software? They are minor bugs. I've used this software "for years" and I am pretty happy with it.
Going by your member number, you haven't been here "for years".
I don't think I can find a single thread you've been in that you haven't been complaining about something. If Stardock software is so bad, don't buy it.
OK, now you can jump my ass, as I know you will.
Overall, CFX has been and is currently working up to my expectations. The two bugs I mentioned are minor, imo. The devs may not even be aware of these two particular bugs. Give them time to look into them hentai345. The recent update fixed some issues most users were having, and we should be at least thankful for that.
Would I like to see them fixed? Sure. Half-finished? Hardly.
CFX isn't the only software Stardock is working on and lately, updates have started flowing again. Let's not pee in the pool.
redneckdude
i didnt imply that id jump someones ass..oh boy ...you really are a redneck
...
what i meant is that it pisses me off that such bugs still exist the software has been out for a long time now
ok , and i have been following these forums for a long time only cause i never saw the need to register doesnt mean i havent been an active reader here
and no nobody showing his ass im just trying to get these bugs fixed and waiting ..."politely" will not get you anywhere ive tried that already
p.s: yeah i know i...know wizard well maybe half-finished was abit harsh
, well we shall see what the guys do about it
btw im usually the last person that bitches about bugs but this is important and id be the first to give the devs a thumbs up for a job well done ....once these get fixed, ok heres one for the windows desktop and taskbar bugs you fixed... ![]()
And I never said that you did.
My point is just that getting on here and being rude isn't going to help. Stardock can't make their software work with every other piece of software that exists, I'm sure they try. And what fixes one problem sometimes creates another. They have reasons for the way their updates/bug fixes happen.
All I'm saying is be aware of the hurdles they have to jump in order to fix every bug that only happens to some people and only with certain 3rd party software. And try to be a little more patient for the bug fixes. Stardock is trying hard to get CFX to work seamlessly with, oh, 3+ million other softwares out there. (Just to make a point.)
Hell, as often as Microsoft screws things up, it's a job for Stardock to keep their software working with Windows. The developers have to deal with constant changes that all the other softwares put out and to keep updating SD software to work with those changes.
All i'm saying is give them their due, they DO do awesome work to stay caught up as well as they do.
you should let me finish editing first redneck
.......
btw they havent released as many updates as you may think for cursor fx ...what, the update before this one was when? 10 months ago? just saying ![]()
we all know it isnt easy work but if i must beg i shall ...please fix the aforementioned bugs ,thanks to all devs for all the blood and sweat they put in
and to stardock for making THE most awesome windows cursor replacer in da universe!!!
![]()
As for the Steam bug, I'd say that's just that, a Steam bug. Not a CFX bug. I have to disable CFX + when I play Serious Sam First Encounter. But I can live with that. No biggie.
well me not so much since its with every steam game in fullscreen that uses windows cursors or the notification area steam icon´s right-click menu , or minecraft fullscreen and minecraft isnt steam
and thats unacceptable , as ive already explained
p.s: its still a cfx bug nonetheless sorry bro steam has nothing to do with it i dont have this with windows default cursors , and no this isnt acceptable exspecially if you cant navigate the menu then with an invisible cursor and no it isnt acceptable to just turn of cfx ...why do you think ive bought this software ..as a cursor replacer not to switch between my default and cfx every freakin hour, pardon my french ![]()
Is CTRL+SHIFT+C really that hard? Just askin...
yes , to me it is this is not the way cursor fx is supposed to work ok if youre happy with it then you may do youre ctrl+shift+c shortcut 50x a day ok or why dont you just uninstall it completely
, for the rest we will wait for the bugfix
p.s: you should read my comments before you reply
hentai345 ... rather than editing and re-editing each and every post you'd be better served by composing what you wish to say first then posting it once. That way any respondent/assistance will be more relevant.
I have read your comments AND their edits. It's no wonder others are concerned about attitudes expressed.
If your 'bug' concerns have been listed they may be addressed if/when appropriate...;)
I guess I'm stuck in a Spockian logic/time conundrum 'cause I could swear it was your comment I was replying to.
yeah but this:
"Is CTRL+SHIFT+C really that hard? Just askin..."
why? when i commented this before:
"no it isnt acceptable to just turn of cfx ...why do you think ive bought this software ..as a cursor replacer not to switch between my default and cfx every freakin hour, pardon my french"
now do you understand?
if appropriate? you kidding jafo right? ...this IS a bug
, all i ask is for cursor fx to function the way its supposed to is this too much asked of? i think not , thank you for the understanding
The nature of what is perceived to be a 'bug' is that it is typically a conflict between 2 programs/services which between them BOTH cause an issue.
It may be that CFX cannot be changed to cater for what Steam and/or games within Steam are expecting as a cursor other than through 'exclusion'.
Too often programs are simply NOT skinning-aware in that they do not/cannot cope or compensate for changed system modifications through the various skinning 'engines' that can be applied. Eg. the occasional need to exclude an application from being skinned by Windowblinds because the application uses its own non-MS system 'skinning'.
So, yes "if appropriate" is correct.
The Backroom Boffins will likely deliver the definitive response, but at this stage it's "if appropriate"...;)
