Can this game be posted to the metaverse?

Last weekend my laptop suffered a memory chip failure and would not boot.  Fortunately it was still under warranty, so the manufacturer sent me a set of replacement chips.

Now, the point of the post.  I started a metaverse game on an older computer and played it on and off for the few days it took the replacement chips to arrive.  When I resuscitated my laptop, I copied the last save of that game from my old computer to my laptop and continued playing.  Then I remembered during the early days of the metaverse Stardock put checks in to try to avoid cheating (like trying to post the same game over and over again).  Are any of those checks going to prevent me from submitting this game to the metaverse if I finish it on a machine different than the one I started it on?

Thanks.

I've always assumed that the MV does its checks based on the game save file. My guess is that the only way the MV could 'see' a change like that is if it also uploaded the debug.err file when you start a new MV game.

I haven't read MV threads regularly in quite a while, but a couple of years ago I tried to follow stuff like this pretty closely and I never saw anyone mention change of hardware as a trigger for the cheat flag.

Thanks for the response.  I'm about midway through the game, I guess I'll try to finish it.

The only issue I know about related to this is that there can be an issue if the serial number that's in the registry is either not present or is different on the machine that you submit the game from than one on which you started the game.

Note that it doesn't matter what machine the game has been played on, the important thing is the machine that you use to submit the game simply has to be registered with the same serial number as the machine that you started the game on.

So check the serial numbers on the two machines which are in the Registry under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager\Drengin.Net under the appropriate directory (GC2, GDA, GTA). If they're the same then it doesn't matter but if they're different (some folks use multiple registrations to have multiple forum usernames) just go back to the old machine to submit the game.

Thanks to both of you who answered.  The game posted OK.
