Help, new old player

from Elemental Forums

Howdy, I bought elemental when it came out, and never got around to playign it much, I kept waitign to see what the next patch wiill do, etc, and I lost tack of keeping track.  I am wondering where I could find some good "how to play the game" posts, or a tutorial or 2.  I would love to give this game a second go and would greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Try some of the stickied threads over here.

Though they keep changing stuff wildly in patches so they're probably out of date now anyway. Personally I'm just waiting for Fallen Enchantress (the expansion). War of Magic just isn't worth playing.

I completely lost interest in the game when a patch turned the game into a grow a single giant city game, and perhaps plant a few villages to grab resources. Has that particular issue been dealt with, or is it still by far the best strategy?
