I've never been a fan of diamonds, or gold. Now if they found a planet primarily comprised of amethyst, that would be a different matter. Mmmmm, purple! :drool:

The semi-precious stones are really worth more than the diamonds which are a totally artificial market. They are also more beautiful imo and have 'personalities' ... diamonds are vanilla.

Amen to that. Besides, having a gemstone ring is much more personalized and unique, that carries way more meaning than some big fancy diamond rock to try to show up the Joneses.
