AirPlay / iTunes love

My house has speakers in every room which I control via Control4 (there’s an iPad and iPhone app for it as well). Connected to Control 4 I have an Apple TV 2.

On my box downstairs I have iTunes with all my music. And on my PC here at my home office where I program, I have iTunes able to access those songs via iTunes’s home sharing.

Then, using Airplay, I have it play my songs through my office speakers.

Now, If only I could get my PC games to play their sound through iTunes. Smile

Not being an Apple person... I use a Network Attached Storage Device with a Sonos multi-zone system connected. This allows me to plug into my existing audio equipment, have a small powered speaker for kids rooms, etc. and I can control it from any of my PCs, android smart phones or an iPad/iPhone if I had one. If I didn't work from home, I could still access the NAS over the internet and play the music through a music player.

Lots of different ways to make this happen nowadays which is a  "Good Thing!"

I mean... you can't just plug into the wall or something and have it work?

I use Airfoil, but there is a slight lag to the sound, so not good for games.

They have a windows and mac version, both work with airplay for other pc programs.  You can even get there iphone app to turn the iphone to an airplay speaker. (only good if you want to stream something from your pc to your phone)
