Is Demigod officially dead?

I have been trying to play for a few days now and the pantheon says, YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD TRYING TO PLAY THIS GAME, PLEASE WAIT or something to that effect. And in the custome games there are only ever 2 people. With empty lobbies. VERY occasionally a few people will join and they kick all the noobs or low stats (me).

So.....no more demigod? I have been playing for 6 months or so but always offline and now i want to play online and cant. Sucks.

Sorry man.  Maybe you should play League Of Legends?

Its free, has terrific developer support, and a vibrant multiplayer community... pretty much the exact opposite of Demigod.

Yup.  Possible to get a game in if you know some of the old players who still hang around occasionally.  But I don't see how someone brand new has any hope of an enjoyable experience.

I would state it as this:

noobs: not many ppl around

mids: quite a lot of people still playing and easy to get games

"pros": almost impossible to get real high lvl games

The only way you will get an online game is by hosting your own game in custom game lobby and putting the title "noob game" or joining a game with such a title. You will only get the odd 1v1 game or 2v2 at best at a time when a few others are on, evenings or weekends.

I think stardock should make Demigod free to play. It seams to be the model that is working for games like this. Make it free to play on steam and they will get plenty of new players.

Totally agree. It's kinda worthless right now for those of us who paid back in the day since there's no player base. If it went F2P, there would be plenty of people to play with. And if the player base grew large enough, they could add some DLC of some sort. LoL has a proven business model. I know they can't just easily turn Demigod into a LoL clone, but they could release, say, 4 of the demigods for free and then pay a bit for each other hero you want to unlock. Dawn of War 2 released a new hero for Last Man Standing recently for $10. More than I wanted to pay, but plenty of people did.

Demigod is a good core game. There has to be a way Stardock could make some more money from it, and revitalize the player base/community.
