Icon Packager Doesn't Change Windows Folders Icons

I'm Running Windows 7 64-bit

I've changed my icons multiple times using the same icon packager version 4.20

I started to use the icon package 'Slicer Vista' and since then everytime I try to apply a new package it changes all the icons except the folder icon, which is REALLY annoying. I've tried to rebuild the icon cache, repair shell icons and images and nothing works.

Thanks to those who can help

Some issues with icon packager on 7 is known... -Try unload Icon Pack. Clean your system with CC-cleaner or some similar software and restart... Run I P Again...

Also check all the right checkboxes in I P-settings are "checked" -Hope it works out 4 you :sun:

Only my empty folders are skinned. once they have data added they convert to the windows default folder. I tried NEONE's fix but it didn't help. Anyone know what's up????

If I switch to small icons all folders are skinned but med, large, and extra large icons aren't skinned unless it's an empty folder.

also have this problem, really makes the folder icon folder ugly.

i fixed my problem with this folder not working by restoring to default windows icon then reapplying the set you want.

hope it works for you also. :D

This is a known problem...there is no fix for it...cleaning...reapplying or anything else is a temporary fix...it will revert back to not working properly. ;)

Correct, live folders will not stop reverting to windows default. It is a constant battle to keep reapplying numerous times a day. Sure wish someone in support would address this problem and get it fixed! Win7 64 bit. X( x_x

I get that too but sporadically. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not.

My problem is similar, but slightly different. In all Explorer windows, the folder icons show up with the new icons from IconPackager. However, in the file opening dialog boxes of programs, the old Windows folder icon reasserts itself.

Is this of the same nature?

Ok,on XP,issue persisted. So far, nothing can be done but manually altered the relative system file (.dll) with brute force tool which is not recommend should you not familiar with.

I am running Windows 8.1 and realized that it is a permissions issue. What worked for me was to change the security settings for every .exe file in the Stardock folder for ALLOW ALL APPLICATIONS to allow everything, same as administrator settings. Then I used the registry tweak "Take Ownership" to take ownership of the Windows directory and the Program Data\Microsoft\ directory (It's a hidden folder). Once I had done that, all icons, including live icons display correctly.

You are exactly right. I've been using the "Take Ownership" registry tweak for a few years now, and it has been wonderful at correcting these sorts of issues. When all else fails , it seems this tweak always comes to the rescue.

I wonder how they get anyone to install the real thing wiith so much crap in the installer.

I don't have the installer just customizer god and resources.exe.i don't install anything.bitdefender doesn,t flag anything or malwarefighter 3.but just to be safe I will upload the file to bitdefender for them to look at.it was probably flagged because it changes icons in imageres.dll and shell32.dll.some sysinternals and nirsoft tools get flagged as malware but are legit programs.
