So disappointed

I downloaded the Deskscapes free version, and I really liked the two wallpapers I got to work. Then, disaster struck! I had a blank screen with a tiny black box right in the middle.  The program kept crashing, so I re-booted. That fixed the screen, but Fences was gone! I had icons all over the place, running wild! I had to un-install Deskscapes to get Fences to work again. I liked Deskscapes, but I LOVE Fences! Is there any way to get them to co-exist in harmony?

You should post a little more info such as what OS you're running. Knowing what video card and if you have the latest drivers would help as well.

It's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, running Windows Vista Premium 64 bit, 6G RAM. Everything is up to date. I even recently flashed the BIOS!

I have a Windows Experience rating of 5. I can't think of anything else, let me know if I forgot something.

MouseGoddess, maybe the 'drop dead date' of Deskscapes trial download expired.

I'd send an email to [email protected] and don't write again until you hear from a person describing the problem and include this url.

Even if the trial stopped working, it shouldn't have affected Fences.

If you still have Impulse, try checking "Verify Installation" by  Shift+Right click on Deskscapes, and after closing and reopening Impulse, doing the same for Fences.

When you downloaded Deskscapes were your antiviral and firewall turned off?

No, everything was secure.

I un-installed it and now I'm wondering if that download was corrupted some way. Maybe I should try it again? Of course, it wouldn't be the first Stardock program I've had that doesn't work for me. Sound Packager never has .... on a couple different laptops, too.

MouseGoddess I've not found any way to get deskscapes and fences to work together either. Not in XP, not in windows 7. Because ODP takes care of my icons, I let go of fences and kept deskscapes.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that!

MouseGoddess, try downloading each without the antivirals and firewall on. Then, if they don't work together we've learned a lot, and support would probably ask you to do that anyway.

The download could have become corrupted which is why I wrote what I did above. Before giving up, please do that and contact support if it doesn't work.

I hope you used CCleaner to uninstall the software and clean the registry. Also, did you try checking and correcting installs with Impulse?

They both work fine together on all of mine.

I have them on 2 systems with Win 7 64 bit, 2 systems with Win 7 32 bit, and 1 system with Vista 32 bit.

Not sure if it matters but I'm running Fences Pro and the latest version of DeskScapes.

I'm not sure about the trial version of DeskScapes since I haven't used it. Perhaps it's an older version and not compatible.
