Titan as home base...
You should be able to designate a Titan as your home planet/central government, and you can't lose until it's destroyed.

It would make a great new setting for MP.
That would make the game more like Homeworld 1 & 2 only at the operational and strategic level as opposed to only at the tactical level. If you have not played those games, check them out, they are pretty good.
I am not opposed to make it so that if you lose all of your planets, your government can move to the Titan. Perhaps that could be a special upgrade for it.
I like the idea too. Have included resource processor, trade port, ship factories etc. as optional or mandatory upgrade upon leveling up.
Have tech tree research like advanced recycling or something similar to minimize the need for resources perhaps.
Well nice idea, but how big are these titans going to be anyway? Bigger than a Star base? Maybe it would be better for a Star base if they are bigger!
I really like the sound of this. Though I would image it would result in an odd situation for planet allegiance as your home would be moving.
Perhaps it would be exclusive to the Vasari then. Still though, the ability to treat a titan as a full fledged planet (especially for the hyper-mobile Vasari, which makes sense after all) would be pretty awesome. Give it some sort of "Dust and Scrap Collection technology that allows it to generate resources from absorbed debris (plus a slow steady stream of resources simply from interplanetary dust). Beyond that, I hope the TEC can build ships within theirs (including capitals). As for the Advent, perhaps it make it temporarily dominate whatever planet it orbits instead of actually being planet-like itself.
It would be a nice game mod. Often in MP team matches your colonize cap becomes ur seat of government when your homeworld is overrun, offering you the chance to rebuild and make a comeback. Unfortunately if you dont have a colony cap, and your colony frigs are hunted down, you cant rebuild.
hmm endgame vasari would be very difficult to take out for sure. I would go so far as to say that titans for other races would be moving slowly, and the vasari titan could show up almost anywhere at any time using nodes that it would become an overly powerful tool when compared to the other races. This is why I suggested in another thread that the vasari titan should be the weakest titan of the 3, because the vasari already have excellent attack capabilities with their fleets, and their starbases are already so strong in both defense and attack.
Note that a "weak vasari titan" would still be a titan, and not just another slightly buffed cap ship. It might not be able to take on as much fleet as an advent or TEC titan would be able to.
Or perhaps the Vasari titan would destabilize phase nodes (aka deactivate them for a given time) after jumping in or take a particularly long time to do so or something...
I've got to agree with Sareth. The Vasari should have the weakest, and TEC the strongest. TEC the strongest for their late-game survival. Advent should be somewhere in the middle. Maybe have the strongest shields and some form of attack abilities, as Advent, IMO, lacks good attack abilities.
It's not that the Advent lacks good abilities, it's just that it's good abilities have been nerfed to oblivion... (Read: Malice.) The Advent was at one time extroardinarily powerful.. Then it got nerfed.. And nerfed.. And nerfed some more. Now, I'm not saying it wasn't overpowered back then, but...
Anyways, I'm all for the humans finally coming out on top with something. And given our egos, humans probably would be the ones to produce a massively oversized gun brisling with more capital-shredding guns just for the heck of it. It's probably the least efficient design of the three, but would also be by FAR the most powerful in direct combat.
Yep. When faced with extinction, humans will fight.
I can't wait, darnit!
The thing is the humans already have a great endgame ship, its called the dunov. even vs a titan dunovs will be effective, assuming that EMP works on titans, that titans use antimatter, and have shields. If magnetize works on corvettes, then you have an anti corvette tactic as well, and then you have shield restore, to replenish all those wonderful shield points so you just won't die. the TEC become attrition machines, and if 3 dunovs aren't enough to stop a large fleet focus fire, build another. 4 dunovs with shield restore and max mitigation aught to really make your shields the strongest in the game, and make your losses negligable. oh, and look they even work well against subverters! omg!
kill an entire advent fleets shields in no time flat with 3-4 full powered emps, and you have a dead advent fleet.
do the same to vasari, and OMG the vasari with all their cheap abilities are done for. then the only thing you have to worry about is bombers, and magnetize works wonders for that.
VS TEC, the emp works well at destroying hoshikos, so that you gain the hoshiko superiority that in the long run will net you a victory.
Now advent do need some loving, and I for one think that they should have the strongest titan, perhaps it should be able to cast meteor. Or, it could have an ability that is the opposite of repulse. It would attract the enemy fleet to the titan, and if the titan is next to a starbase, the starbase would then meteor the enemy fleet, making advent starbases WAY more useful.
In that way you could have a large advantage, similar to what the vasari do when they build starbases in the enemy grav well. you get the enemy to come to you!
sareth01 you and -Ue_Carbon need to talk. This love of Dunovs is something you have in common.
brilliant minds think alike ![]()
Any TEC player should make extensive use of Dunovs mid to late game, their abilities are pretty
Ahhhh Delicious EMP, How I love thee. And Magnetize with its ability disable and fighter ownage.
I post something like this said 3 year ago at least, I think. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/176569
