Nat Facilitator Issue - 8/15/2011 3pm Est - MP WORKS AGAIN!

Nat Facilitator Issue - 8/15/2011 3pm Est - MP WORKS AGAIN!

Everyone that plays Demigod online is aware that there is currently an outage on the Demigod MP servers (anytime you host a game, you get the Nat Facilitator error).  The issue began on 8/3/2011 around 2AM EST and is still ongoing as of 12:50PM EST.

I've chatted up a few people at SD (and sent the appropriate emails to support) and they are aware of the issue.  The issue appears to be because many of the servers that were once housed at Stardock are being moved to Gamestop facilities.  The closest thing I've got to an estimate on how long it will take to get things back up and running is "hours yet, maybe a day."  So, they are working to resolve this.  I'd just check back in from time to time and see if things are back up and running.

Update 8/3/2011 from Island Dog:  "Just an FYI that it won't be back tonight, they are looking at sometime tomorrow."

Update 8/4/2011 from T-man:  "We are still working on getting the NAT Faciliator back online.  But due to several technical difficulties it is unlikely that we will get it back online this week.  I would estimate that we will have it working again mid next week. Our apologies for the inconvenience."

Update 8/15/2011 around 3PM EST:  The servers appear to be back up and the issues seem to have been resolved.

IMO Gamestop doesnt care anymore about the demigod players... its obviously. we are living in a world where business and money is more important then happyness, peace and living beeings. tell me - where is the posibility for Gamestop to make profit with demigod?

i'm sorry for the small community. sometimes i wished that there would be an open source community version for demigod. but in the last year since i played this game so many people just jumped off the dg-train. and when i think about all those wasted hours in my life cause suckers just leave the game or crash it. the evenings where i was in a good mood until i played 2 hours of demigod :-)

so R.I.P. demigod

... but it was still fun. after Unreal Tournament '99 my second online game which used me like a drug normally does. ;-)

take care guys and NNNILS: don't touch the other games ;-) touch woman instead... or good books.

Stardock pr GPG....GIVE US INFO!

This is not a matter of waiting, but in your game, where you sell the service multiplayer, it CLEARLY states that you are providing the means to multiplay online through your service.

It is understandeble that things crash and get messed up, but more then 1.5 weeks now and NO WORD from you.

IF this was a bigger game, your company would soon be facing legal problems in form of you can not deliver the service we PAID for.

Again, it would be great it you fixed the problem right now, but I understand if things takes time.

What is NOT ok is the lack of information. You simply seam that you dont give  a damn......

But they have updated us, the sticky at the top of the post with a quote from a Stardock employee in yellow which said hopefully sorted by mid this week. It hasn't been sorted yet which is frustrating but hopefully they will get it up and running by next week.

No amount of flaming on here will get them to do it any faster so try and restrain yourselves.

Demigod multiplayer is the only game I play anymore so would like to see it fixed soon! Might have to boot up a few others this w/e though.

That quote when you look back at the posts was from last week - 4th August, looks like the sticky was updated with that on the 8th.

This situation is EXTREMELY unprofessional and makes ALL companies involved look VERY bad.

Not only was GPG screwed at launch by the networking infrastructure that was put in place by stardock, but now you're screwing the remaining customers that you do did have.

Not sure if trolling...

or just an ignorant twerp who has no idea that GPG was responsible for the original networking infrastructure that completely failed to support multiplayer games outside of GPG offices.  Stardock stepped up with about a 1000 overtime hours to salvage things after the dog was fucked so to speak by GPG, so theres a little history lesson.

Also, I'd like to confess that Hedgie and I are responsible for screwing up the servers, so theres that.  We wanted some of you all to join us playing DoWII but you guys just used GR and went to play LoL so oh well.

I apologize for my actions but it was supposed to be for your own good.  Wanted you all to experience what it was like playing a game aggressively supported by its developers and enjoy the 3v3 lag free games with people all over the world.  Playing with folks from Russia, Korea, UK, myself in Hawaii, and Hedgie using toaster oven as a converted Broadband internet source: no lag, no drops... beautiful!  Oh and the best thing is right now they are having a beta for a patch. Yes, you heard me, they are testing a patch to make sure all the bugs they thought they fixed are actually fixed.

Seriously though, hope things get sorted out for yall.

Wait, seriously? People still play this game? And you haven't had a response from an official for over a week?

And they still have problems even HOSTING the network?

Time to move on: www.leagueoflegends.com

Nail in coffin indeed.

It's probably a bad sign if pacov begins to wonder when/if MP will be restored.  At any rate, I've started to play games with working MP.  Hopefully they provide another status update at some point.

League of Legends is no substitute for Demigod. There are simply no alternatives. Maybe Diablo 3

Not even the same genre...

I was playing RoI until they F'd up the beta. Basically I got stuck with 2 immortals I didn't like when they implemented the coin system, because I was testing stuff without realizing my choices were permanent.

So, so much for that MOBA.

That's just substituting a crap support system for a crap game... no.

I'd have more respect for them if they just said "piss off, we aren't fixing it".

Doesn't this happen to all games at some point? I'm actually wondering because the only other games I've played were command and conquer over LAN. It's just that demigod died a lot quicker than it should have because of the terrible support.

true that, but usually it's because the game got old and newer better games of the same genre have taken all players. It's just a really odd situation with Demigod.

Yeah I agree it's a very strange situation. But as for games gradually dying look at starcraft brood war and some quake1 mods that are still played in massive numbers. With proper support *cough* and community involvement a great game can easily last a very long time. This one has died wayyyy before its time.

If this is the death of it and the server/tracker whatever is not to be fixed what do people think is the chance of this going f2p and then use GR? I mean they can't really keep selling it as an internet multiplayer supported *cough* game and not be able to even play without third party software like GR? Imagine if you bought it last week ffs... I know it's cheap, but that's not the point...

:banhammer: whoever is responsible for this... >:(

They do seem to like to remind us regularly that buying something from Stardock and actually expecting it to work is a stretch.

Over a week and no response, it would have only taken them a few seconds to bang out a update, what the hell are they up to?

Or maybe Stardock has gone bust, who knows.

That exactly it My main man. You got the hole in one. They should come out and just say "The show is over"... Oh and I'm surprised they've still got the demigod forums up...they'll be next...just watch. First opengames.asp then the servers...then it'll be the forums..goodbye R.I.P demigod (dusting hands).

I haven't played DG in about two weeks now, and I'm off it. The thought of launching  a game and I cringe. I'm now successfully re-addicted to Company of Heroes. Nothing else compares.... I'll get my bro over there too, we both had great times on COH before demigod addiction turned us into demigod lobby watchers.

Seriously, think of how many hours you sat there in lobbies waiting for a fucking game or starting a crashing game. More time spent in that than actually playing a proper match.

Whoever has put demigod down has done us a favour, like a dog with rabies you shoot it, shed a tear and get a healthy dog to fill the void.

Bye bye demigod buddies and I actually hope they never get the servers up again, driving this unroadworthy vehicle is not safe.
