May we have refunds?

May we have refunds?

I and several friends purchased the game before release, we pretty much bought it because Galciv2 was so good, and we loved Sins and Demigod and Stardock was apart of those to

To be blunt Multiplayer player doesnt work. Brad mentioned in another post Stardock didnt promise this or that for multiplayer but it simply doesnt work even in basic capacity. In single player the game still has numerous issues both in general playability and technical issues. The overall game flow wasnt well thought out and the fixes and changes are kind of bandaids. Even things that were allowed like custom kingdoms and sov's are now gone. Based on Stardocks previous reputation I convinced multiple people to buy the game before or near release and now almost a year later.... we simply arent any closer to the game we thought we were buying. Once again I saw Brad pop up somewhere and say they didnt promise this or that, but hey... come on... we all have bought a few of your games, and this one should say "Jowood" on the side not StarDock.

That being said, after almost a year of waiting you are no closer to providing E:WOM as the game that was advertised. I went back through numerous interviews, previews, looking at what this game was supposed to be on the single playerside, and not even close. My collectors addition E:WOM box sitting above me reminds me of the kansas city shuffle. Its right between Jowoods "The Guild 2", and EA's Spore. My wall of could have been really.

If my friends and I submit account information, may we have refunds? (Obvously my box set cant be returned and it in itself is pretty cool, but I also have another copy of elemental digital only, you see i bought 2 copies just in case the game was epic)

Btw this is just one shelf. I buy a lot of games. Its not an entitlement thing. I own a small business we employ 4 people, and work our butts off. You can be sure if our customers are not happy we figure we are doing something wrong and do what we can to fix it. You will also see the Elemental Box set, Two boxes of Sins of a Solar, DemiGod, not sure why there are two copies of Battlefront 2 up there but eh :)

One thing I didn't take into consideration is the primary function of SD.  It is not gaming.

As Frogboy stated earlier in one of his posts, SD's game-making function provides only a small piece of the pie -- compared to the other product/s directed towards corporations/business etc.  Those are SD's primary customers, so I doubt that they would have to wait long, if at all, to get a product working as advertised/intended.

I know Froggy has a passion for gaming; his make-shift crew as well.  That is obvious.  And it is also obvious that they want this title to be great.  But SD is focused more/primarily on other things and who can blame them?  It is what it is.

I'll be waiting.  But coming here to this forum (on daily basis) to see how my product is coming along, is a tad bit tiring especially with every update rending the game less and less usable.  So I will be waiting whilst away from here.  Perhaps on 31 December 2011, when I'll return, there will be before me the product that should then be enjoyable (ie playable).

Until then, ladies and gentlemen, this is aeligos signing off.

We also have 3 subscriptions for Object Desktop too. He gets my money that way as well. Currently running fences and deskcapes, which is very cool.

I think StarReaper's complaint coincides with the promised 16 player mulitplayer advertised on the back of the box (as seen on amazon) and the Gamer's Bill of Rights

This isnt soley about the fact i got dupped into buying a game i thought would work multiplayer...

This sentiment is crazy.

You chose to pre-order instead of waiting to see what reviewers said of the game.  You chose to skip the early, open refund stage where Brad himself was posting in many threads like this one telling people how to get a refund.  You chose to continue waiting for MP support after Brad has openly said MP doesn't overly concern him.

Did Stardock fail to deliver on some of the promises surrounding WOM?  Absolutely.  No on here, including Stardock employees (that I've seen), disputes that.

But it's not like Brad came up to you, shouted "Look at the fuzzy flying pink elephant!", swiped $50 from your wallet while you were staring at the sky, and has since been hiding in an undisclosed location to ensure you can't get your money back.

This really just sounds like someone who has come to regret their previous choices and wants someone else to take responsibility for them.  You could have easily ended up with a refund at points since buying WOM.  You didn't because you chose not to.

You can be sure if our customers are not happy we figure we are doing something wrong and do what we can to fix it.

We've been continuing to update and improve WoM, and early buyers who stuck with us will be getting FE for free at the very least, so we've hardly been sitting idle. We're sorry if you don't think that's enough, but asking for a refund a year in is stretching reason pretty thin.

Everyone was given the choice back in the beginning to get a refund then and there, or give us the chance to try to make things right and get FE for free; you chose the latter. If you're having specific issues you can report for us to investigate and fix please do, but the opportunity for refunds has long passed.
