Has something changed?

In the years I've been making Logon screens I've noticed that if the mods give a submission 1 star or less, it won't be in the public gallery. I submitted a screen a couple days ago that received 1 1/2 stars but it didn't make the gallery. OK. But I just submitted one that got 3 stars and it still isn't in the public gallery. Did somebody forget to send it over there or what? Do stars still matter?

Did you get an acceptance email? This has to get sorted. Please be patient, patient. ;)

Your logon should be appearing in the Gallery, mg. :)

It was checked by the mods and quality wise didn't qualify for the public gallery - thus it was sent to your Personal gallery.

I am also curious, as according to the guidelines, we are not allowed to do personal photos or screen captures? I see these in the gallery and am just wondering if the guidelines have changed?

Logons

  • No personal photos.
  • No game screens/movie & tv stills etc.
  • Uploads of Logons are restricted to 5 per day, all overages will be rejected.
  • Vista and Windows 7 logons are currently moderated Like wallpapers.
  • :maybe: :maybe: :maybe:

That's one of the 'downsides' (seen from our point of view) with promoting users to Journeymen/Masters. Their submissions bypass moderation, so anything goes - in theory.
This also many times leads to a substantial decrease in quality.

Some may sneak into the public gallery due to system glitches.

I interpret "personal" photos as pictures of people, not places. Photography is an art form.

You are absolutely correct in that interpretation, MG.

So, I'm wondering...quality wise I can't see anything wrong as far as focus, framing, etc. I added some effects to intensify the colors and bring the subject to the forefront. So is it the subject matter that isn't good? And it got 3 stars......?

I would think that since LogonStudio is nothing more than a glorified wallpaper capture now that they should be subject to all of the wallpaper criteria and moderations. Ahhh for the good ol days when logon studio did something artistic huh...

They are modded by the same criteria as walls.

Indeed. These days it's "Hey I "made" a wallpaper. Must be uploaded as logon too, so I can rack up more downloads."

Anyway, moderation issues is best handled out of public view to avoid the negativity this usually sparks.
So, PM a/any mod instead.

..and a Dream, and maybe even a screensaver. I don't like that, but I have to admit that it makes a certain amount of sense, nonetheless. A good wallpaper makes a good logon, usually. Maybe people could upload a package instead, at least for wallpapers and logons.

Don't you miss XP, just a little? Real logon screens.
