Dx won't start up while Windowblinds is running

DX error

Running Windows 7 32bit

latest version of DX and windowblinds

Every time windowblinds is running and try to start DX up.  Dx  will give a error message and not run.

When I unload windowblinds. Then try to start up Dx works perfect.

Any fixes? anyone else have this problem?

Thanks WeatherBound

Verify install on each. I have never seen this.

What version of DX?  What is the error message?

Do this, go here, only use your info, and delete the current theme folder.  Try again with a different DX theme.

This won't fix the DX issue but it will fix your spelling. I've used it ever since yrag put a link to it in the forums.  IE Spell

Haven't ever seen that issue, WeatherBound.

Hey Wiz, there's ample reason to remain sanguine: It don't do crap to fix grammar. ;)

The cause is windowblinds. I have tried opening Micosoft PictureIT! and get same error when Windowblinds running. Unload WB and it works fine.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.2 (build 305 - Windows 7 Edition)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

Dx version: 3.91[b].051

unloaded WB and dx works again... Puzzling to me.

WeatherBound what you might try is uninstall both WB and DX then run CCleaner or a similiar program and reboot.  Then reinstall WB's, reboot and then install DX.  Hopefully that will clear things up.  If that doesn't I'm not sure what to suggest.

Dx version: 3.91[b].051

That version is a waste of hard drive space. use  3.5

Use Impulse to verify your WB install. Go to your software tab, select WB and hold down shift and r-click. Select verify installation.

Wiz is correct. I assure you DX and WB work fine together. The problem lies elsewhere, probably in DX. Use 3.5. I can't strees this enough. At this point, any DX above 3.5 is fubar.

Also be sure it's not a script error. Feel free to send me the DX theme you're trying to load. I'll check it here.

Ooops, I should have paid closer attention to your version of DX, I agree with RND and Wizard.

Its all themes and will do. cclean did not work.

How do i get dx 3.5?

So. I went under wb settings excluded DX and picturit from being skinned and they both started up with WB.

still need to find 3.5?

A couple of months ago I would have said use Impulse, change the setting to only show release versions vs beta but with the recent changes I'm not sure how the correct way to get is.

WeatherBound try going to this link  https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount/products

Sign in and take a look, I'm showing version 3.5 for DX which is the last released version (non-beta).  Hopefully it shows the same for you.

DX and PicturIT error

The application was unable to start corectly (0xc0000005)

This error normally shows when you try and use a specific program, which suggests that there is one – or several – program specific features / functions that are damaged & causing the problem. The 0xc0000005 error can be caused by a number of different problems, but is most typically attributed to the following issues:

  • Virus / Spyware Infections
  • Faulty RAM (Random Access Memory)
  • Damaged / Faulty Device Driver
  • Corrupt Registry

So:

1. Uninstall DX and install 3.5 as described by others above. Impulse can probably do this if you uncheck the beta and pre-release options in preferences.

2. Close and reopen Impulse and DX 3.5 should be 'avalable'

3. if that doesn't fix it, then check with Malwarebyte's antimalware and whatever antiviral you have.

4. check to see if your drivers are up to date with SlimDriver (free on the net).

5. Use CCleaner to check registry problems.

6. Faulty RAM... check by opening with power off, and removing/reseating RAM while grounded.

Thank philly and all. all works now.

As for PictureIt! its not skinnable. thus error shows up. told windowblinds not to skin it and boom. it works.

Changed Dx to 3.5 and all is good too.

Thanks again

Wiz, you may have missed this little addition...spellchecker...I believe it was added for Zubaz, but he won't use it. ;)
