[1.30] Prestige bug.

Ok, kept playing and reached 10-15 cities on my medium map game.

Prestige broke - All my cities have growth of 0.1 regardless of actual prestige in each city.

The city penalty is listed as very low 0.3, 0.4 and is properly reduced if I raze a city. However all cities remain at 0.1.

Enchanting a city 4 times for +1 prestige per enchant does nothing. The detail window will report a final prestige value after all modifiers like 4.7 but on the cloth map it will still say 0.1

Is this a case of hidden modifiers? Most of my cities are lvls 1-2-3 and I'm about 600 pop. nothing big.

Prestige is set to only allow a few cities if you want growth. They have yet to account for people that play on a larger scale than a small map. Each city you build seems to half your prestige. I suggest increasing the prestige buildings effects by a factor of 10. No dev has acknowledged this problem as of yet. Though we all know about it.

I agree with seanw3.  This is a huge issue on anything but the smallest maps.  And even then you have to burn your way through your enemies to keep the captured cities from screwing your population base growth to nothing.  I have yet to be able to exceed city lvl of 3 and this is a real piss off.  I like big maps and long games.  Small maps suck as you can easily take 3-4 opponents before 100 turns.  On a large map you're lucky to even find 2 others in 100 turns.

I think I'll look into how to modify the presege of buildings as you suggest to 10-50x.  Otherwise I can't even build defensive units as my whole population only grows at 1.5-3 per turn and now I need 4 min of units.  Also this gives a false advantage to the odd units you can build for cash (like darklings ans spiders). Also my cash flow gets crippled and my own children defect to other AI players.  Is there any way to ge tthem back?

Prestige broke, nope, it's just useless now once you build a few cities.

This is obviously a bug and not the way its supposed to work, because the city detail shows the increasing prestige penalty and all the bonuses properly.

This bug was so annoying that it is that only thing that made me come to the Elemental forums at all.

I think it was meant to be the nail in the coffin.

I agree completely.  I wish I never loaded 1.3.  At least before it was playable.  Now when I hit 13 or so cities they all go to .1 prestige no matter what!  Completely unplayable at this point.

I will check for updates in a month or so, if fixed, great.  Otherwise sayonara!

The prestige penalty is just a bad concept. It's dying in v1.4.

Can it be killed with fire?
