My First Master Skin

My first Masterskin. I think I'm pretty much satisfied with how this looks, although I think the start button may change. It seems a bit plain compared to the rest of it. Just the mockup is done so far ... 238 layers in all. o_O

There will be a light substyle as well. The taskbar buttons are transparent, so the Win7 button colors show through. The library top image will probably go lighter once I see what color the text will be in there (sure wish we had control of that). The dial looking buttons 'turn' for different states.

It needs a name and I can't think of one. If you come up with a name I like, you'll get a  free copy of the skin. B)

be aware, in case you weren't... you have to skin all OS's and with truly dark skins , also have to provide a light version for each OS as well. (regarding a skin that is sold on WC)

Yup, I knew that. :grin: There are always some places where the text sucks in a dark blind, but I love them dark. SKS is pretty good with the color control now, but it would be nicer if some colors didn't effect colors elsewhere in the blind, if they had separate controls, it would give us a bit more freedom.

Imagine if you told SKS to make the toolbar button text to be one color in explorer and a different color in IE

... or even have different toolbar buttons for explorer and IE

... or if the toolbar button text color was a separate control from the searchbar text color

... or if we could actually skin the toolbar background in IE again

... or if we could tell SKS not to use the window color we assign in some commonly used apps...

.... yeah, I'm dreaming. :|

Nope. All of these name suggestions are great, and they bring to mind other ideas for blinds, but nothing has really grabbed me and said "this is it!". I've even tried mixing and matching some of them. 

I was seriously considering 'Master Blaster' (which was a joke by Syd), but putting the word 'master' in the title for my first masterskin seems a bit ... I dunno ... wrong? conceited?

I almost named it Interceptor but there are a couple blinds with that name already. One reason I was considering this one was because the inspiration for this blind was from several different car dashboards, and an interceptor is a police car.

I'm keeping all these names on a list ... who knows, I might design a future blind around one of them (that's how Titan's Forge was done). :grin:

It does have a law enforcement "feel" so here's some more words to play with, Cyndie...magnum, tacical. hi-tec, mm, armor. composite, lethal, duty, trooper, radar and taser. I used to order non-issue items from Galls.com and Quartermaster.com (Police/Fire/Rescue equipment) and they usually have some interesting names for some of the merchandise they carry.... ;)

Not a fan of that sort of 'big' skins but it looks pretty promising so far!

 

I think it would look better if you added just a little bit of shadow to the tops of the windows too, especially on the top of the start menu which looks a bit jaggy.
