No AI surrender

Hi,

I have read lots of threads here about AI surrender, most of them where written in 2009 with entrenchment and it seems the problem isn't fixed. I'm an old fan of sins, i played this vanilla game a few years ago and i have just bought trinity package.

Really happy to play again to this game, i launch a 5 player game and after my first huge battle, 3 of the 4 AI surrender at the same time .... really really boring. With the dev.exe i show the galaxy and see that 2 of the 3 surrending AI are as big as me. I have crushed the main fleet of an AI but he still have 12 planets on a 50 planet galaxy, so he still have more income and ressources than me ....

Game aborted, no interest to play this game anymore, i hadn't finished research, hadn't the time to make diplomacy and made only one huge battle. Don't know why the 2 other AI surrendered at the same time but it's boring.

I couldn't find which files to mod to change the behavior and found no answer on the forum so, i post here to demand a "No AI Surrender" Option as it was asked 2 years ago.

I remember the fantastic games i have done with friends in vanilla game with many huge battle and now .... boring game. 2 hours of developpment to make only one big battle ...

Set your AI to "Vicious" and then play it again.

Hum, well, it is not really a solution but i can try that ... thanks for your answer.

I hope ironclad will work on an option to fix that. Some players asked that 2 years ago ...

You could mod the retreat threshold for the AI,

In your gameplay.constant file at the very bottom is:

aiData
  aiRetreatThreshold 0.25

Changing that number higher or lower will get you an AI who retreats or doesnt like you want.

Are you sure AIretreat is for that ? I thought it was to determine if AI will flee a battle turning bad for him, not to determine if he quit the game and become a dead player ...

Well technically if the AI retreats more it is less likely to take enough loses to force it to surrender. But from what I've noticed the AI only surrenders after you've seriously surpassed it in military strength. Even with its economy intact, I'm sure if you would have pressed your advantage you could have destroyed its economy before it could rebuild.  As mentioned, try going up a difficulty level, greater resource advantages mean the AI will constantly be producing ships, and thus shouldn't hit the surrender threshold until you have destroyed all its shipyards.

Dang it I too been wondering if there was somewhere a No AI Surrenders Mod. I like fighting my opponents to the bitter end and hate it when they surrender.  I dislike when my opponents surrender when they have an entire star system to themselves.  It makes the game more fun seeing my enemies' enemies come back from the brink once I campaign against our mutual opponent as well.  I'm a Big Game Hunter so like long games.  I hope that Stardock might consider adding a button/option in the future.

That can't be much of a fight, beating down a hapless opponent that was incapable of strategic or tactical thought to begin with.  But I don't see any reason why a "No AI Surrender" or "To the Last Ship" option shouldn't be added.
