New (free) Painting and Image Manipulation Program: Pinta

Pinta is a new Painting, image manipulation program similar to Paint.net.

It has over 35 tools and adjustments to use in image creation and manipulation. It’s organized sort of like Photoshop, so transitioning shouldn’t be hard when it comes time. It’s an excellent and free program.

It’s a program designed for those with simple needs or who are just getting started with the fun you can have with images!

Under the hood, it looks like this:

Those familiar with Photoshop and PaintShop will recognize the familiar tool icons.

It’s supported on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Take a look.

Hey Doc...just checked this one out. Its pretty good but with all the ones I do have it would be just one more. I posted a link for gimp. Hope you don't mind. That ones pretty good too.

Neone6....you like fun little programs? Try this one. Basically its a Photoshop clone and another freebie. I think you'll get a kick out of it.

Posting a link for Gimp doesn't bother me at all, Uvah... it's an art/skinning program and that's just fine. Gimp is a lot harder to use than this one, imo... and what I liked about it is that it leads in more naturally to the more sophisticated programs...

But that's what customization is all about... having it your way :)

If you like teh "ease of use" of Phostoshop but like the price of GIMP (Free), try  http://www.gimpshop.com/

Checked out the gimpshop link. Doesn't tell you which download button to hit. Where it says free download I click on it and nothing happens. Three times. Try to back out of the page and the ad comes to either sign in or buy rapidshare pro. Close it out and try to back out and it keeps coming back up. It won't let you back out using the back button. I had to close my browser and reopen it. Kinda sucks they offer it but won't let you get it unless you either sign up or buy. Screw them. I'll stick with what I got.

Zu - Tried to look at a tutorial, but I got a redirect, and nothing loaded. No screenies, either.

Hey Zu, same thing as Uvah here, I keep geting the Rapidshare thing, so I've been to majorgeeks and got direct download links for The Gimp there....

For those who'd like to try it.... The Gimp

....and Gimp Portable for those on the go.

I wish someone would give Pinta a try. I think it's a lot easier than the Gimp.

Well I have been using paint.net, which you say its similar too, but why should I switch? Does it offer anything more besides an interface that looks more like photoshop?

Its like this. The gimp, like Photoshop is to Paint dot net what Paint dot net is to MS paint.

"I have paint dot net, gimp, photoshop and a few others but I prefer working with photoshop. Then there's PSP, paint shop pro, in some respects better than the version of photoshop I use. All I guess is a matter of preference.
