Lots of Patches Coming on Tuesday!

Lots of Patches Coming on Tuesday!

Microsoft will be sending us 16 bulletins covering a wide range of security holes in the Windows operating system.

Of the 16 bulletins. nine are rated “critical” because of the risk of remote code execution attack.

Adobe rates security issues in the same manner as Microsoft.

Two of the critical bulletins will address high-severity vulnerabilities in iE.

The following products are also getting patched in this month’s patch batch:

Microsoft .NET Framework

Microsoft Silverlight

Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway

Microsoft Office

Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft Visual Studio

All supported versions of Windows are affected by this month’s patches, which are scheduled for release this Tuesday (June 14).

Adobe will also fix critical security vulnerabilities in the Adobe PDF Reader and other Adobe Acrobat software products.

These vulnerabilities, also expose users to code execution attacks via rigged PDF files, affect both Windows and Mac OS X users.

Software versions affected by the vulnerabilities fixed in this patch batch include:

Adobe Reader X (10.0.1) and earlier versions for Windows

Adobe Reader X (10.0.3) and earlier versions for Macintosh

Adobe Reader 9.4.3 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh

Adobe Acrobat X (10.0.3) and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh

Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh

Frankly, I'll take IE9 because I don't use it and it'll probably have less holes than IE8. I assume hope.

ie9 x32 is just fine. It's quick and works just fine. It's the x64 which is slower than molasses in January.

getting my 17 of them right now hhmm OP has 16

DC... that's your "Total" - including "Optional"?

16 is the 'Important' downloads... and MS can change the number without consulting me - in fact, never seem to consult me. The nerve of them.

These took a long time to get installed!

Mine was done in 5 minutes or less.

No wanty no IE9

Same here...I keep that update hidden so it won't install...or try to.

16 updates.

I installed 15 of them. No wanty no IE9, sneaky microsoft!
End of 2of3's quote

I have found that whenever MS tries to sneak in a browser upgrade, it always comes with a splash screen where you have to accept and install, so you actually have a second chance to say no (I always do.  I install it on my schedule, not theirs).

I had 5 of them that flat out would not install on Windows XP (hung up) unless I downloaded the .exe for it from Microsoft and ran them as Administrator.  2 for .NET (different versions) and 3 for Microsoft Office 2010.  Weird. :S

I use all 3 OS's Jafo, but for skinning purposes XP is by far highly superior to Vista and 7. :)

Or perhaps SkinStudio needs a good look at?  Lot's of areas that cannot be skinned in Vista and 7, and more bugs than I can count on all my hands and toes.

That sounds a little strange. Shouldn't that be fingers and toes or hands and feet. An observation. :)

How can I get my computer to stop nagging me to install IE9. It's listed as an "important" update, not "optional"
