Playing 1.29 beta that came today, my Sov has somehow lost the ability to cast spells.
I can cast them on the world map by going through my spell book, but not by clicking on my Sov because the "Cast spells" button has gone!
The button does not appear at all during the tactical combat, leaving my Sov unit incredibly useless.

Did you do the wolf quest and try to save it?
The -5 essence removes spell casting from the sov
That'll do it! How do you UNDO it?
The quest needs to come with a big warning against saving the wolf.

Same here. Pity as I was starting to enjoy my first game...Fix the damn bug plz!!
Same thing happened to me recently. I want to like this game so much, but this is just insane.
I have not done that quest and this has happened to me. This bug is really nasty! Totally ruins the game I've been working on for 10 hours as there is no way to reverse this.
I have not had this in wom 1.4, but did happen in the 1.2 & 1.3 versions.
