Titan Tech

Titan Tech

Do you think that they will create a separate tech tree for the titan ships. In this tree there will be the research to unlocking the ships them selves and different upgrades for the titan. a bit like what they did for star bases in the defence tree. Or do you think they will just be incorporated in the military tree?

The reasons Starbases got so many tech tree upgrades were that they were meant to be used early mid game, yet had to increase in power in order to stay relevant late game. I don't think Titans be this way, its likely they will be the sort of game ending unit Sins has never had. If the Devs go in this direction then I doubt Starbases will get much of an upgrade. Basically building a Titan should be like building the Death Star, you've got to spend a lot of resources and time to get one, but once you have it your opponent will need to throw everything they have at it in order to stand a chance of taking it down.

You spend all those rescources then get this message from your commander...

ROFL!  I've never seen that video before.  But Somehow I do see that as pretty dang likely if this game were to be made into movie form and the titan got blown up.

what if titans gave super-weapons teeth? for example, The TEC novalith could beam (or whatever) it's energy to the TEC titan which would be able to not only shoot the planet and cause damage, but all the ships and structures between the titan and the planet and also maybe leave a debuff preventing construction or maybe preventing any healing. Maybe the Advent Deliverence engine could focus into the Advent titan and create a huge culture flip +all of the culture powers

And maybe the Vasari's Kosutra can compliment their titan to make Phase-flavored, phase-dipped, phasic phase phasers.

I am perfectly fine with the Athena being a planet shattering beast of a ship with one or more novaliths on board.

As for the Coalescence (what I'll call the Advent titan until I hear otherwise), it would be awesome if it could just mind control entire freaking planets.  You think Domination is impressive?  You think Repulse is powerful?  Just wait until you get all those psitegrate in the same ship focused on the same target.  If you want it as your own, it is yours.  If you want to annihilate it, it simply goes away at .99999999c via a telekinetic burst.

Lacking a cool name for the Vasari one, but anyways...  This thing really needs to be in complete control of phase space.  You want to create a phase node?  Done.  You want to phase out the enemy fleet?  Done.  You want to phase out the freaking enemy gravity well?  Done.  You want to phase out the front half of an enemy starbase, utterly destroying it?  Done.  You want to positively rend all ships in the gravity well with a phase shockwave?  Done.

I mean, As awesome as these things will be combat wise, think of the sheer unspeakable power of their abilities!  I mean, come on!  The TEC should be able to raze planets to the mantle.  The Advent should be able to dominate entire fleets or planets.  The Vasari should be able to simply delete things from the universe.  I mean, at this scale of power, you have death stars.  They have lots and lots of small guns, but if you tick off their captain...  Your entire empire will quake in fear of the repercussions.

Maybe,& BTW it all gets back to that 2GRAM prob....So what's to stop any 'ol cyborg materialist with 2 computers from coming an blowing all us buzzcore noodleheads out of the water in a late gameplay sweep of the space debree field?:

Seriously. the diplomatic reqs for creation of such monsters should include empire limits as well as cost and upgrade cap.

2GRAM? Don't know what you mean by that.  And what do you mean by the second sentence?  I'm trying to be more calm responding to this post than the other one, but... >_>

As for your second post, that actually almost made sense.  There should be empire limits for creating such monsters in some way, shape or form.  Not entirely sure yet what they would be, but something...  As for diplomatic requirements?  Why?  If you're king of the world (or in this case, galaxy) why would you ever need to be friends with anyone?  Back before Kron when the Vasari basically had it all, why couldn't they just create titans for the heck of it?  They had the resources.  They had the manpower.

Like the picture of the titan looks like it has beam weapons, missiles and perhaps lasers similar to the star base well at least the first to

Do we know for certain that Titans can even warp?( can't take the trekkie out of me).

They just might be mobile starbases.

I still don't understand if they are not increasing well size , how these things are going to fit.

I don't see how a they would be different from starbases if they couldn't, and I trust Ironclad to give us new options when they tell us they are going to rather than just add some variety to old ones.

Even though it was quoted as a "work in progress", it's bigger than a star base...

well, i have a "work in progress" too... and "it's bigger than a star base"

With over 200 weapons hardpoint ( sins limit is at 240 ), it is a monster of firepower...

The real good thing is that each time that Stardock/Ironclad make some exp pack for sins, they give new things that modders can mess up with... pretty sure that i will be please with rebellion

Wbino... they'd be kinda useless if they couldn't phase-travel.

I meant that if your empire builds a Titan and it was built by your empire while it had diplomatic ties with another empire, then there should be limits to the costs of upgrades to that Titan while it was in good standing with the diplomatic ties.  Costs of building and maintaining crews should be lessened while there was a diplomacy w/ another empire still in effect, and by 2GRAM I was refering to the 2 gigabytes of ram that most computers have in their chips.  I find it hard to believe that a lot of Titans + Starbases + Fleets + Cap Ships + Upgrades for each could be handled efficiently by some of the less endowed computers out there.
